I ran across the meadow field

to greet her with a hug,

and she agrees to sit with me

together by the log.

It’s been a year since she left me,

from then my whole life burned.

At last the sun melted the snow

and now she has returned.

It’s been so long since I last saw

her pretty dolly eyes.

Her eyes of brown which I would wipe

so gently when she cries.

I kissed her lips and kissed once more

just like when we were wed.

The kiss was good just like before,

and then she softly said:

I miss you dear, no need to fear,

for it will not be long,

for us to be as one again,

and once more sing our song.

As true as it may always seem

I woke up on my bed.

To know that it was just a dream

for she's already dead.
