Kia's POV

I get out I the water, shakily, and morph back into my legs as fast as I could. I hurried home, frightened of the one who just told me I would be his. A deep sense of desire washed over me at his words.

You will be mine

Butterflies erupted in my stomach and I slipped in through the front door.

"Where were you?" A voice echoes through the room and I blush.

"I was taking a swim." I try to hide the squeak in my voice.

"Why do you smell funny?" Stark questions.

"I don't know. Wash your nose and maybe you'll find out." I snap, suddenly becoming defensive.

Stark didn't need to know where I was every second of the day.

He stares at me a moment longer and then sighs.

"Go to bed, we'll talk in the morning." He says.

"Actually I'm going to visit the Sirens in the morning so I won't see you for a while." I shake my head, lucky for the excuse to get away from his long lecture about telling him where I was at all times.

"And you'll come straight back, correct?" He asks and I groan.

"Yes, Stark, I'll be home right after that." I roll my eyes.

"Good now go to sleep." He waves his hand at me as he trudged back to his room.

I let out a sigh in relief and hated the guilty feeling that gnawed at my insides. I didn't like lying to Stark but if he knew what was really going on then I'd never be able to go out. But I did go for a swim so I guess it wasn't a total lie.

I raced up to my room and grabbed the letters to the Werewolf packs that declared war on them. I quickly sealed them in an envelope and then raced back downstairs and put them in the mailbox after raising the little red flag thing.

I went back up to my room and started doing things to keep my mind off of my mate. I couldn't sleep.

Completely exhausted, I collapsed on my bed.

"I have a mate." I state allowed.

"I will reject him-" I start but pain fires deep inside my chest.

I whimper and lurch forward as I claw at my chest.

"I can't do that." I pant as I shake my head.

The pain slowly eased away after I realized I couldn't reject him.

"I will simply stay away from him." I say and another spike of pain erupts in my chest.

"Why is this so painful!" I growl.

"I don't want a mate! I don't want a werewolf for a mate!" I cry.

"Shhhh child. You must understand that there is a reason for everything and in time you will see." A feminine voice flows into the air.

I snap my head up and see a wispy white form standing in front of me.

"Who are you and what kind of trick is this?" I snap and a melodic laugh fills the room.

"Oh child this is no trick. I am the Moon Goddess." The figure replies.

"And why are you talking to me?" I ask.

"Because you are a mate of one of my Alphas." She replies.

My eyes widened.

"He's an Alpha?" I whisper.

"Yes dear. He is my strongest Alpha and you aren't helping him by pushing him away." She tells me.

"I am a Mermaid and he is a Werewolf. We are enemies so even if I did want him, we couldn't be together." I shake my head.

"Of course you could. You are the leader of the Mermaids so you have a choice in what you do. He is the highest Alpha and he has a choice and his choice is being mated to you." The Moons Goddess says.

"We will have many enemies if we are together and my own kind might turn against me." I tell her.

"But that is what you will do for love. Being happy is important. If you go to war with the Werewolves, you are chancing your mate to be killed." She points out.

"And what if I said that I didn't care?" I ask, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling inside me.

"Then I'm afraid for you and what is to come." She sighs.

"What will happen?" I wondered.

"That is for you to find out and make your decision." She says and then she is gone before I could reply.
