My attacker was a vampire.

It was then that I realized what really happened…if the vampire hadn’t have been pulled off of me, it would’ve killed me—

“That’s good! It didn’t kill you! ” yelled Sirius

—but because I wasn’t dead…that can only mean…I was changed.

“That’s not good!” yelled Sirius

I quickly picked the mirror back up and brought it to my face. I opened my mouth, and it took all I had not to scream, I saw, instead of two of my regular teeth—fangs.

Then I lost it. I jumped out of bed and ran over to the window, smashed it, and jumped.

“Jumped! You were like three floors high!” James exclaimed

“Vampire, remember?” Remus replied for me. I smiled at him as if to say ‘thanks’

I waited for the impact of the ground to hit me, but I just landed gracefully, pain-free. I started running; the only I was thinking was “Run Away and Run Fast”

“Why?” James said softly this time; I could also pick up the hurt in his voice.

“James, I had no idea of what was happening to me, I couldn’t remember anything, I… I was scared. I did the only thing I could think of: run.” I replied just as softly back to him

I kept running, all night. I found that I could run so, so much faster than I could before, I also had so much more stamina and endurance. I ran all the way to an airport, I can’t remember where. I took the first flight I could find: to America.

“You were in America this whole time!” Sirius and James both shouted. I noticed that Remus, Lily, Peter and my parents were quiet waiting for me too continue.

“Yes” I said abruptly

When I got there I found myself in the state of California, San Francisco to be exact.

I couldn’t ignore it anymore, it was building up ever since I left the hospital-thing, I was thirsty.

I couldn’t help it. I made my first kill.

“First?” Remus asked me.

I just nodded and closed my eyes.

In the next few weeks I tried to control my thirst, but soon I realized it wasn’t the only thing I had to worry about controlling.

“What else?” Peter asked

“I’m getting to that” I replied, a little irritated that I was being constantly interrupted.

I had been noticing that I was able to do things, interesting things, without trying. I could control the elements: fire, water, earth, and air.

“That’s so cool! Did you get that when you changed?” Lily asked me.

“Yeah, that’s also how I moved my bag earlier.” I added to the guys. I then explained to lily what I did.

“That’s so cool!” she repeated once I told her.

“Do something else!”James demanded

“Nah”
