They've been to war for you and me.

Yet, there they are on the street.

Missing a limb, or maybe two.

They receive no help from this country they love.

The one they fought for

With courage and bravery.

Yet, there they are on the street.

They can barely make ends meet.

They try so hard,

But it's just not the same.

The war of their past,

They can't escape.

They don't want much,

Just warm food

And a place to stay.

Yet, there they are on the street.
