*Nate’s POV*

I walked into the car after a long day of work. This job was tiring me out. Working with a bunch of pervy bastards can really drive you to drink.

I shucked my jacket off of my shoulders and placed it on the back of the chair at the bar. I sat down and ordered my drink, tapping my fingers on the bar. I looked around, surveying the area. There were only a few people here, including myself. And a majority of them were drunken idiots. I rolled my eyes and turned my head back to the bar when I heard the bartender place my drink on the counter. I smiled at him and mustered a thank you as I raised the glass to my lips.

I sipped on my drink while looking down at my Blackberry. But suddenly I felt self-conscious. I felt like there was someone looking at me. I quickly turned my head to the side, only to see a cute guy staring at me. He smiled and I grinned back, biting my lip. I looked down at my drink nervously and felt my heart race. I knew that he was still looking over here.

Soon enough I heard a husky, yet sexy voice behind me.

“Are you here alone?” the cutie asked.

“Yeah, unfortunately,” I spoke, looking at him.

He sat down next to me and I checked him out. He was a shorter guy with bushy eyebrows and an adorable haircut.

“Well what’s a beautiful girl like you doing here alone?”

“Relaxing after an exhausting day of work,” I answered.

“You seem like a hardworking gal. You deserve some relaxation. Bartender, let’s get another drink over here,” he said.

“Can I have the pleasure of getting your name?”

“I’m Nate.”

“Really? Because I am too,” he laughed. “Nathan.”

“Well my real name is Nadine, but everyone calls me Nate. I hate my name.”

“I don’t. I think it’s beautiful.”

I blushed and looked down. This is the only guy I’ve met that hasn’t tried to make a move on me. I could get used to this.

“Thanks.”

“No problem. So whereabouts do you work?”

“The only job I could get was working at a construction company as the manager’s assistant. It sucks. How about you?”

“I’m in the music industry.”

“Really? What do you do?”

“I sing. I’m in a band actually with some of my mates,” he said. That was the first time I had noticed his sexy British accent that went along with that huskiness.

“Mates? You’re from Britian?”

“Yep, born and raised in the UK. I love it there, but I decided it was time to move to pursue my dreams.”

“Oh. Could you maybe give me a sample of one of your songs? Unless it’s completely secret.”

“Just because it’s you, I’ll give you a sample of it,” he said, smirking.

He cleared his throat and then the beautiful melody came out of his mouth. That same sexiness echoed in his singing voice.

“You cast a spell on me, spell on me. You hit me like the sky fell on me, fell on me. And I decide that you look well on me, well on me. So let’s go somewhere no one else can see you and me. Turn the lights out now. Now I’ll take you by the hand. Hand you another drink. Drink it if you can. Can you spend a little time? Time is slipping away. Away from us, so stay. Stay with me I can make, make you glad you came,” he sang. “The sun goes down. The stars come out. And all that counts is here and now. My universe will never be the same. I’m glad you came. I’m glad you came.”

He smirked at me when he finished the last line. “What’d you think?”

“I thought it was great, but it seems like you’re trying to pick me up,” I giggled.

“Nah, I’m just glad you came here. Otherwise I’d still be sitting over there by myself also. We’d be in the exact same positions if one of us weren’t here.”

“That’s very true,” I said.

We sat there for the rest of the night talking. He had his hand rested on my thigh like it was nothing and strangely enough, I didn’t mind. His touch sent shivers down my spine.

I picked my Blackberry up off of the counter and looked at the time. It read 1:00 AM.

“Holy crap! I need to go. I’m sorry, but I have work in the morning,” I said, getting up.

He helped me up and put my jacket on for me. He was kind enough to walk me out to my car.

“Thanks for the drinks,” I said. “I should really be heading home. I can’t afford to be tired at work tomorrow. If I am, the guys will just take advantage of that and flirt with me even more.”

“Am I going to see you again?” he asked.

“Maybe you will, maybe you won’t,” I answered. “But I’ll leave you with something to remember me by.”

I stepped forward and pressed my lips against his. He gripped my hips and pulled me into him as our lips moved in synch. I’m pretty sure there were fireworks shooting above our heads because this was the best first kiss I’ve ever had with a guy. I pulled away and winked at him, getting into my car. If we were meant to be, we’d meet up again. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
