I haven’t had much preparation
to write these words of adulation.
Poets can with every line
get their poetry to rhyme,
a wedding day, connubial bliss,
a happy couple, a lovers tryst.

But I have trouble on such a day
of knowing exactly what to say.
Two people here are getting wed,
Edd to Beth and Beth to Edd,
(who wears the trousers, no ones said).
We wish the happy couple well,
for what lies ahead? Who can tell!
Fortitude is all we ask
to help them through each daily task.
That along with respect and care
will make life’s journey light to bear.
So here’s to Beth and here‘s to Edd
on this special day when they get wed.
