People sell love
Like thieves.
They sneak it into
Your pocket
And back out
Before you know it.
It's a chain of
Memories around
Your neck
And they snatch it
Leaving a few to
Fall down your shirt and
Onto the ground

Without even touching
The clasp.
They stuff little love
Candies
In your shoes like
Saint Nicholas
And find themselves
Unwrapping the sweets
Themselves.
Maybe they don't know what they're
Doing to us.
Maybe they don't know just
How much being stolen from
Hurts.
Especially when what they stole
Was your heart.
