You walk out of the plane, carrying your backpack. You frown, squinting against the bright sun. Waiting by the gate were what must have been at least a thousand screaming girls. Why are they here? You knew they certainly weren’t there for you…

You realize that they are waving frantically at someone behind you. You don’t want to inconvenience the other passengers, so you keep moving. You’re curious and want to see what the girls are so worked up about, but you decide to wait.

When you are inside, you set your stuff down. The herd of girls rushes past you, swarming the gate. You stand up on your tip-toes, trying to see, but there are too many in your way. You sigh, figuring that it will always be a mystery.

You shrug your backpack on again and head out. You didn’t have any luggage with you, so you could just go to your dorm. The electric doors slide open for you, and you are again briefly blinded by the sun. You walk out, sheilding your eyes and squinting.

You hear the sharp sound of screeching brakes, and you whirl around just as a black van hits you. It wasn’t a hard hit, but you fell backwards, hitting your back painfully on the ground. You’re a bit dizzy from hitting your head on the hard concrete. It takes you a few seconds to see straight.

“Are you okay?!” You hear a voice gasp.

You look up into the eyes of what had to be the most beautiful boy you’d ever seen. He had dark brown hair that was shorter in the back and longer in the front, straight and perfect. He had sparkling, dark-brown eyes. He was definitely fantastic-looking, with an odd fashion sense; a pretty blue shirt with maroon pants and a black belt.

He was on his knees. He gently took your elbow, afraid of touching any nonexistent bruises. “Are you okay?” He asked again. He was speaking Chinese, so it took you a moment to respond.

S…shì,” you reply hesitantly.

He slowly peers into your face, making sure you are all right. When he sees that you are, he smiles brilliantly, showing an adorable dimple in his right cheek. He stands and then extends his hand to help you up. You take it, thanking him.

“Will you be okay now?” He asks. You nod. He turns to join a large group of people. Your face reddens when you realize that he is getting into the van that hit you. You step back, ducking your head and mouthing thank you to the van as it pulls away. From the back seat, he sticks his hand out the window and waves to you.

You start to turn away. He was very nice. You notice a flash on the ground, and you look down. A silver necklace that looks very much like a dog tag reflects the light at you. You reach down and pick it up. Your eyes widen. This belongs to that boy! You look up, but they had already driven away.

You hear a few girls talking behind you. “Omo~, she’s so lucky! She got rescued by Lay!”

“He’s so handsome!” The other girl cooed.

You turn around. “Who was that boy?” You ask them, switching from Chinese to Korean.

They look at you as if you’ve grown an ear on your forehead. “Yah, are you a foreigner? Who hasn’t heard about them! That’s Exo-M, and you just got rescued by Lay!”

“Exo-M?” You echo. You’re sure you’ve heard of them before. You bow quickly and say thank you. You have to return the necklace. “Do you know where they are going?”

“Probably back to the SM dorms,” they reply. You have a feeling that they don’t know.

You turn around and hail a taxi. One pulls up in front of you, and you slide in. The driver turns around, giving you a friendly smile. “Hi. Where are you headed?”

“Um…do you know where the SM dorms are?” You ask tentatively.

He smiles. “Oh, yeah. Are you a trainee? You’re very pretty.”

You blush. “Thanks, but no. I have to return something to a friend.”

He pulls away from the curb. You look out the window, absorbing the sights. You are, after all, in Korea. This is your first time visiting Seoul. The city is beautiful and absolutely filled with people.

Before you know it, you have arrived. You pay the cab driver and climb out. The dorm building is huge, and you take a deep breath. You glance down at the dog tag in your hand. It gives you a boost of confidence, and you stride through the door.

As soon as you walk in, you can hear two people arguing loudly. One of them is an extremely tall boy with longish, blonde hair. He seems very serious when you look at him. The other is Lay, the boy who saved you. He looks very upset and is speaking so quickly that you can’t catch what they’re saying.

“We can’t go back,” the tall boy said. “I’m sorry, Lay.”

You hesitate before walking up to them. “E-e-excuse me,” you say timidly. The two boys turn and look at you. Lay’s eyes widen—he recognizes you.

“How did you get in here?” The taller boy asked, frowning.

You frown, confused at the question. “Through the door.”

His own scowl disappears, and he smiles drily. “Good answer. You don’t look that much like a—“

You turn, ignoring him, to Lay. You hold out your hand, extending the dog tag towards him. “Here,” you say shyly. “You dropped this at the airport. Thank you for saving me.”

His eyes widen even more, and he smiles like a kid at Christmas. “Thank you!” He says very quickly, putting the dog tag on. He stares down at it happily and then looks up at you. “Thank you very much! I was scared I would never see this again!”

You bow. “I’m glad you got it back. It must be very special to you.” You say goodbye and start to walk away.

You are stopped by a warm hand on your wrist. You look back to see Lay. “Hey, do you want to stay for dinner?” He asked. “I really am grateful. Let me make it up to you.”

“Lay…” the tall boy says.

Lay turns around. “This is Kris ge, the leader of Exo-M,” he introduces. He laughs a bit sheepishly. “Sorry, I don’t know your name yet…”

“It’s ______,” you say, smiling. Your visit to Korea has started off very well.
