He stood at the foot of her bed, his dark hair plastered to his pale forehead from the rain outside. The angel crossed his arms across his chest as his wings twitched quietly. Watching her had always been his job, but he wanted more. How could God give him this mission, to protect her from what was to come, if there was no way to warn her, to protect her from herself?

What do you mean? He shot back, turning to look out the window at the stars.

The angel nodded to himself and stepped closer to the sleeping female and kissed her forehead, leaving his mark of protection, before leaving.
