I just finished unpacking and putting everything together. My bed was finally made and my clothes were in the dresser.

"You've got everything?" My dad asked.

"Yup" I wiped sweat from my forehead.

I walked over to my window and saw a few cars pass.

Seems like a quiet neighborhood. There was a boy walking along the pavement on the other side of the road.

I guess he saw me watching because he looked over at me. I showed a smile and waved.

He turned back and kept walking.

"Well hello to you too" I grumbled.

I walked away from my window and went downstairs. Dad was at the door talking to someone. A neighbor I guess. He had some sort of treat in his hand. I tried to take a look with being noticed. Fail.

"Oh, Nel! Come say hi to our neighbor Jess" dad motioned me over.

"Hi" I softly said.

"Hi!" She perkily cheered.

Seems like a nut case.

I tried to smile through the awkward moment.

"Nellie, go put this in the fridge" he handed me the treat.

My dad wasn't my favorite person ever but then again, who is? I always preferred my mom much more.

I walked over to the fridge and shoved it in.

EW. Fruit cake. Yuck!

Mom came down the stairs and into the living room.

"Honey, how about taking a drive around town. See what it's like. Make some friends" she suggested.

But I'm tired.

Gr.

"Ok" I grabbed the keys.

I hopped into my car and drove down the street. I turned a few times and kept going straight.

I saw the boy again.

I slowly pulled up behind him and rolled down the window.

"Hey, do you need a ride?" I asked trying to sound friendly.

He kept walking.

"Hello?" I tried again.

He ignored me again.

I got out of my car and ran up behind him.

"Hi I'm Nellie. I just moved over here" I introduced.

He kept walking.

"Hello?" I walked in front of him.

He stared me in the eye.

His eyes felt like they could stare deep into my soul. They were beautiful but mysterious.

His dark brown hair was trimmed perfectly and his lips looked soft.

Wait. Why am I staring at his lips?

He pushed by me.

"What's your name?" I ran up next to him.

He whispered something but I didn't hear.

"What?" I followed him.

"Stay away" he hissed getting in my face

He pushed by again.

"Can I get a name?" I asked.

"No" he turned back to face me.

"Why not" I asked.

"You just don't give up, do you?" He walked towards me.

"Nope" I smiled.

"Calum. That's my name" he said.

I smiled and said "Im Nellie. I just moved here" sticking out my hand for him to shake it.

He turned back around.

"What's your problem?" I walked next to him.

He stopped walking and stood there.

I realized how horrible that sounded.

"I'm so sorry. That was terrible" I said as he walked faster.

I just stood there.

"Uh, see you around?" I said.

Great. First day I already made an enemy.

I sighed loud and walked back to my car.

I drove home and stayed in my room for the rest of the day.

I need to figure him out.
