Fiona’s pov.

Jake started to drag me backwards but I let out a growl.

“ Let me go. I wont kill him. He’s not worth a easy kill.” I muttered

After a second of hesitation he released me, I walked back for a few more feet while looking into Tristan’s eyes.

I gave a mirthless laugh before spinning around on my heel and walking back to the rest of our group in the line.

The guys immediately went to their mates to hold their hands or hug them.

Being with your mate can help calm you, holding them in your arms knowing their safe makes you calmer.

Their lucky.

I didn’t have someone to help calm me down, Nikki looked a bit put out too.

She didn’t have a mate and as far as everyone else is concerned neither did I.

I walked over to her and she immediately hugged me.

She whispered “ I thought he was gonna kill you, I had a flash back of when it was your dad standing their. “

I hugged her harder before replying steely with “ I’m fine. He’s never coming back. I promise you. None of our dads will ever hurt us again. I’ll make sure of it.”

We moved through the lunch line quietly.

Nikki and I still had our arms wrapped around each others waists while everyone else was with their mate.

We walked back to the tables that had our stuff.

I set my food down, I wasn’t even hungry anymore.

“ I’m going to the track to blow off some steam ok?” I say as I grab my stuff.

I was the caption of the track team at home.

I found running relaxing and often used it to unstressed myself.

“ I’ll come with you.” Nikki said.

She was my co-caption I should have figured she’d want to run.

And the buddy system we had made up when we first ran off, but if I think about it we unintentionally used it when we still lived with our parents.

I nod and move towards the field.

When we reach it, I’m surprised that no one’s there.

At my old school their was always people out here even in the winter.

I grab my ipod from my bag and turn it on.

I place the ear buds in my ears and I am immediately calmed at the sound of ‘ Hallow Be Thy Name’ by Cradle of Filth.
