The moon rose high above into the clear and starry night sky, a young dark haired man stood still
upon Wickrly bridge, His clear green eyes looking down at his own reflection upon the water below.
His hands shook as his mind reeled, his memories of the events that happened prior to him
waking up in a hospital bed only a few days ago... His last memories that haunted him, that made
him not want to close his eyes, because all he would see were flames, then water, then her face...
her beautiful, sweet face, saturated in fear and shock and then... nothing
Russ had been told Donna, his fiancee, had died in the accident. Drowned... But somehow, though
he should have died too, he had survived. No one around when it happened, the dangers of
traveling a lone road no one really ever traveled... far from any visible eyes... It wasn't until the
morning after the crash that they were found, that's when the ambulance was called. Russ had
been found washed up on the bank of the river, strangely a few miles away from the bridge they had
nosed dived off of. She was still in the car, strapped to the driver's seat, lifeless...But this was six
months ago. Though he had survived Russ had been in a coma for the last six months.

place, it didn't seem possible there would be no trace of what happened, the bridge was fixed up so
he knew there was new wood, but in the dark no one would see the difference. There was no doubt
the case closed, but... it didn't seem fair or right. Someone so wonderful died here, and yet it was
as if nothing happened there at all. It was quiet, the crickets sounded, the wind blew.. this is what
he would expect if he had died, he should have died, how was he alive and she wasn't? What gave
him the right to live and not her? He surely didn't do anything to deserve to be saved, if there was
anything good about him at all it was Donna. She had changed his whole world, gave him life and
now it felt like his life was taken away from him. Like he was dead too, only cursed to live upon the
earth.
He wondered if the after life was true, that she was in a better place now... If he were to die maybe...
no, even if it was true, he wouldn't go where she was. She would go to heaven for sure, but him... he
was very sure he was going to the pit just like he was told by those bible thumpers that hung
outside the bar he'd go to. Donna would tell him that those people honestly didn't understand that
what they did was a bit too radical , by to her they were doing what they thought was best, and they
could save some who are called that way. Russ was sure they were just nuts, but Donna always
