“We all have simple man and woman rights.” Alex said standing in front of us. His back straight and head high, saying those words has to take a lot of bravery since the king could easily send you get decapitated just for going against the law, of being defiant against the king’s word or judgment.

“There are places with people being able to keep the coins they make from their business, and only have to pay the stand. There are also places with free markets.” Alan said stand next to his brother.

“We come from Athens, a place where people have rights, and freedom. Not much but enough but way more than here. People whom can defend them selves, not just be killed because of the king said so.” Alex said looking right into my eyes. Some part of my thought he knew what happened with my husband but he couldn’t know, could he?

“A place where people vote on what they think is best for the. Not the king or the son of the king.” Alex said again looking around this time.

“So far they have been explaining ‘free rights’. It was a topic on which was interesting and I absorbed as much as I could. “That is all thank you for your time.” Alan said. I clapped and some others did as well, Alan and Alex smiled in response.

“Does any one want to come up here and add anything?” Alan said motioning his hand backward in towards the empty space. “Add anything or talk about anything?” He asked again after several moments of silence. “Beliefs or what you want to accomplish in the future?” He asked again.

Nobody said or moved and I stood up taking this chance to let out what I want to do in the future. Alan and Alex both faced me and they smiled. “Mrs. Ransom.” Alan said taking a step backward.

I faced the crowd and was surprised for there to be a bit more people than I realized and before I could back down I took in a deep breath and smiled at them. I locked eyes with my sister which gave me a bit more courage to speak from my heart.

“My husband was killed…not long ago.” I said swallowing hard trying to not let my voice crack. I put my hands in front of me intertwined and continued. “Order by the king of something I still don’t know. I would like to let people know that what I want in the future is for their not to be a king, we all know that is a slim chance.” I said smiling at them. Some people smiled back and I continued.

“I will not let my self be pushed around by the king anymore, while they see what they should wear for the evening. Him and Queen Madeline should not see but know how hard it is for us to the get enough food to buy bread. Not every body is lucky enough to have a job that pays well. Not every body but us knows how hard it is. All I am saying is that we should be ruled by someone who knows how it is for the poor and the humble.” I said let my words process into their heads. “Thank you for your time.” I said. To my surprise some clapped and then everyone started to clapped as well. My breath was gone and my heart beat was going really fast as I just spoke from the heart.

What I said could get me punished, but right now hearing them clap and seeing them smile at me I didn’t think about the king, I didn’t think about the laws, I didn’t even think for revenge of my dear loved husband. I thought about how good it felt letting my thoughts out and how many people agreed with me, it made me feel like someone was hearing.
