Seasons: A Quartet

Spring

Youth--fresh flowers and fun

Ice melting from the firmaments of the year

And fresh-faced, I wander forth

Fearing and daring

Frolicking in hope;

In new love

Summer

High in the sky, the sun dries my eyes

Mourning is over, and has yet scarcely begun

Dewdrops fall from my eyes, leaving smiles

Formed from castles of mist

I see things, not there

Autumn

Leaves crackle and crunch

Colors cascade

Coolness descends

Yet some days of calidity remain

And I realize

Appearances aren’t always

What they seem

Winter

Ice

Encases

Everything.

My heart, so warm a moment ago

Grows cold, knowing you never cared

I wait for you

For spring

For hope of your love

To come again

But darkness, night, cold, ice

Is all that I find.

Goodbye, my love.
