Tucker:

            I watched as Alex pushed a lock of her hair behind an ear with her fingers and smiled. I couldn't explain my urge to get to know her better. Maybe it was because I could sense she needed a friend. I wasn't sure that the guys and I would make the best of friends, since there was a part of our life we couldn't share with her, but we were definitely better than nothing.

            I was a little miffed that she didn't tell me about the guy in her last class. Rylan had texted me to let me know about the werewolf. Rylan and Kane weren't sure if he was the offspring of a rogue wolf, or if his family was just new to the area and hadn't checked in with Rylan's dad yet.

            The look the wolf sent Alex made him pause. Did this guy know her? The hair on the back of his neck stood on end.

            I turned to see Alex slumped down in her seat, using my body as a shield. Her heart rate sped up and her skin lost color. "Are you okay, Lexi Bear?" I grimaced. I wasn't sure where the nickname had come from, but to be honest, it seemed to fit her.

            She shrugged and bit her lip, "Um, yeah. I'm fine." I didn't have to be part wolf to hear the lie in her voice.

            I shook my head, "Friends don't lie to each other." The statement was a bit bold, but I hoped she'd start considering me a friend.

            "Are we?" she looked at me in confusion as she added, "Friends, I mean."

Alex:

            This was the most bizarre conversation I'd ever had. I'd never been told that I was someone's friend, but I found that I didn't mind it.

            "Yeah. We're friends." His lips tilted up in a smile and I found I couldn't stop looking at the dimple that appeared in his right cheek.

            "Okay." I mumbled. I wasn't sure what else to day to that.

            "So you'll tell me what's wrong?" he asked.

            I shook my head, but my eyes slid to the creepy kid of their own accord. It wasn't his problem.

            He sighed, "Fine. You'll let someone know if he becomes a problem though, right?"

            Why did he care what happened to me? We'd just met and even though we were apparently now friends, that didn't mean he had to take on my battles as well. I nodded an affirmative, just so that he wouldn't take matters into his own hands. He seemed like the type that would do that.

                                                            ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~
            Class was finally over and Tucker followed me out of the room, "What class do you have next?"
            I pulled out my schedule to look at it. "Um... French?"
            "Awesome. I'll walk you there. I have a friend who takes French." He replied.
            "Really?" I wasn't sure if he was saying that his friend was in my class or if his friend just took it. How many friends did this guy have? I felt like I had at least one in each of my classes so far.
            Tucker put an arm around my shoulder as he led me from our last class to French. He used his considerable bulk to make it easier for me to get through the hallway. At the doorway, he smiled at me, "Have a good class. Don't forget, you're having lunch with me and my friends." I'm sure my cheeks turned bright red when he sent a wink in my direction.
