Chapter 2

Chapter 2

“Chace do you think that Austin will be a good Alpha?” Chace was just looking at me as if I shouldn’t have even mentioned the guy. “Why are you asking me you know my opinion of the guy isn’t the best” Chace says while rolling his eyes at me, I swear he thinks I’m mentally deranged. “Yeah, I know that’s why I’m asking because you basically have an un-biased opinion on him”, again rolling his eyes at me then smiling when he realises why I’m asking, “You know if he isn’t a good Alpha then he doesn’t deserve a good Luna.” Chace says in that condescending tone he always seems to make sound like he cares, strange he never uses it for any other topic other than talking about our future Alpha. “Ok smart ass, I get it. What you got now?” He looked at his schedule and smiled “English, beautiful with you of course, and that thing we are going to be calling Alpha soon.”

I told Chace about my huge crush on Austin last year when we were always sneaking out of school to get away from the hell hole. He wasn’t too happy about it and said that I was way too good for Austin but that I should be with someone who cared about me the same way I cared about them. I have no idea who he meant but he has this strange idea that there is someone for everyone, technically speaking there is because every wolf has a mate but whether or not there the one person that won’t hate every single thing about you. I’m a bit cynical on that part, how can someone love everything about you there would defiantly be one part of habit that you have that would annoy them right. Well look I don’t know all this stuff about mates being perfect for each other how can you be perfect for someone it makes no sense to me anyway. My sister though she loves the idea her and her mate Steven are perfect for each other its actually annoying sometimes. They almost always finish each other’s sentences it’s just scary how perfect they are for each other.

As Chace and I made our way to English I was starting to contemplate whether I should just ditch and suffer the consequences. Because right now I didn’t feel like looking at the one guy I had always wanted but also the guy that I could never have. Just as I was going to say we should ditch stupid bells rings and we are standing right outside the class about to walk in making it too late to escape because the teacher has already seen us.

“Stop clicking you fingers its annoying when I’m standing right next to you” Chace says pointing to his ears like I was stupid to forget that we have a heightened sense of hearing, I’m mean how could I forget that because as a walked into the class I head the whispers about me. Ranging from ‘Oh her mother was killed by hunters’ to the normal ‘she is so ugly, that ugly skank! Who she think she is with Chace’ oh wait what that’s a new one dam Chace has an admirer just as a turn to see who was saying it I bump into none other than Austin Miles, that boy could smirk at a mated female and she would still get all excited. “Oh sorry I didn’t mean to bump into you” I knew I was blushing bright red but I couldn’t help it, he was just so dam gorgeous. He was holding my shoulders on both sides and just smirking again, oh dam that boy, he slowly leaned in them of all things he could have done he smelt me seriously he smelt me. Leaning back away from him thinking he was weird a gained myself a growl for moving apparently, strange but he seemed to think it was just normal. Austin just smiled “No don’t worry about it, I’m fine” I couldn’t help but look at him smiling like he knew something and it sort of scared me that it would have something to do with me.

“Amber, are you ok he is such an ass hole you should have just slapped him for bumping into you” Chace looked annoyed like he was about to shift. His eyes went midnight black and I couldn’t help but reach out to touch him, strangely enough he instantly calmed down after a few strokes of his arm. I wish Austin would just hurry up and find his mate so I can move on from him because I think that once I know he is taken I will forget him, well hopefully anyway. Once he finds her the feelings will be gone I will make them disappear because if I don’t his mate sure will along with me if she ever found out how I felt. That’s another thing about mates they are extremely possessive and protective of their mates, especially the males but alpha males are worse. I have no idea why it worse but they just uhh, what is theirs is theirs and no one else is even allowed to look at them differently other than with respect because if another male was to look at a Luna with a lustful eye well look out for his head flying through the air without his body attached. The sickest part the Luna will find extremely attractive of her mate being so possessive. Werewolf’s make no sense sometimes.

The bell rang for the end of class, finally Austin kept looking at me strangely that whole lesson. Chace pinned me against my locker as soon as we reached it from exiting class and made sure that I didn’t make a sound by covering my mouth. There was barley anyone in the hallway because it was lunch so everyone had almost left the school grounds. Why is Chace doing this strange, he would never hurt me we are practically related, then all of a sudden his arms dropped from where he had pinned my shoulder to my locker and wrapped around my waist pulling me into him. Chace is being so strange lately, but even more now than ever before. I can’t think of anything else to call it other than possessive, sounds strange why would Chace be possessive over me. “He should never touch you like that or smell you he doesn’t own you, not yet anyway.” Chace’ wolf was almost surfacing I could see it in his eyes and feel it in his grip. “What do you mean ‘not yet’ and why do you care anyway?” He looked shocked by my question and then realised the position we were in. Chace stepped back and looked down at his feet an ashamed look on his face. He knew he had scared me and by the look of it he knew why he had the sudden outburst as well but I couldn’t figure it out. “Amber, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to it’s just I’m so well protective over you … you should be mine” He said the last part in a tiny whisper but that’s the advantage of wolf hearing. “Chace I’m no one’s yet I still have two months until my birth day and even then I aint never gonna be nobody’s bitch” I smiled back at him but I could see in his eyes the longing and then it hit me. “Chace why should I be yours?” Chace looks at me baffled as if I wasn’t meant to hear him say what he said before. “It will make sense in a few days but I’m not going to spoil the surprise” he says it with such pain in his voice I reach out to comfort him but Chace pulls away. “What’s wrong why can’t I touch you? Chace you being weird what is it?” He didn’t even take the time to respond he just ran away like I was something he could run from no way is he getting off that easy. “Chace Alexander Daniels, get your butt back here right now or I will tell the girl you have a crush on that you like her” I was bluffing but he didn’t know that right, hehehehe I is a smart cookie, or so I thought. “Well that would be a site to see someone trying to tell themselves that they know a person that likes them.” Wait what just happen did Chace just say that I the girl he has a crush on. As fi reading my mind he answer the question about to come off my tongue. “Yes, I did just admit that I like you know can I please leave because you got nothing on me anymore?” With that Chace walked out the hallway door and I just stood there going crazy with thoughts, emotions and for some reason disappointment in myself like I was letting someone down by actually considering that I might like Chace as well.
