And still she waited for him to come,

She sat on the doorstep chewing the nail off her thumb,

The hope that was once a giant flame,

Now but a flicker, quickly fading, hard to tame,

She threw her head into her scarred hands,

For she had cut them, the scars reached out, soft pink strands,

She pulled her hair and held her breath,

For she wanted to end her life, "come death!"

But she couldn't control her mouth from flaring wide,

To catch some air and put it inside,

The air was like cold water on a hot day,

Satisfying her need, to her dismay

The words from the letter she had memorized,

She finally understood them, she realized,

They played through her head and switched themselves around,

What they said made her gasp from deep in her heart, profound,

"Babe I wanted to go,

Just so you should know,

I really wanted to leave you,

So I could save my own soul,

I thought you'd stab my back,

I didn't know how long it would take,

For you to realize,

That alive you're a mistake,

I never really loved you,

And just to ease my ache,

To find another girl,

Your heart I shall break"

The girl stared at the sky,

Now she truly wanted to die,

He never even cared,

For the love they could have shared

He would never come for her,

He was only a dream, a ghost, a blur,

But he was always there,

In her heart, broken without repair,

She'll always remember the last two lines in the note

Now if she ever finds another guy, those words she will re-quote

"I've never stopped loving you

Please don't stop loving me"

Now this girl sits, staring into space,

Around her room she'll only pace,

..."I've never stopped loving you,

Please don't stop loving me"...
