Mira

I sat back between my mothers' leg while she braided my hair. I could hear her talking, but I wasn't listening; Chase had my mind pretty occupied.

Why hasn't he tried to make back up with me? Thought we was in it forever! He knew me better than anyone so he should've known that the secret I was keeping wasn't anything ludicrous. This stupid fucking life I've been born into is messing with my only chance at love... my only chance at happiness...

"Mira!" My mother bawled right above my ears causing me to almost jump out of my skin.

"Yes mother!" I answered while placing my hand on my chest as I felt my heart beating like drums.

"I can't believe you weren't listening! I know you aren't expecting me to repeat myself!"

"I guess if it's important you wouldn't have a choice but to" I answered her with a shrug. I can feel my mother glaring at me for my smart remark.

Nice one Mira.

"You need to go check on Chase, Mira. Obviously the league has made him the new target to get to you"

I sighed fully aware of what she's saying. The night at the club when I came as Mystery to protect Chaston, one of the assassin members was about to capture him.

"I told you it wasn't safe to have a boyfriend... or even a friend"

"Why didn't someone told you, it wasn't safe to bring a child into this life!" I stood up so I won't be below her. "So I'm supposed to live a loveless, friendless and meaning less life because of what?"

I saw an apologetic look crept onto my mother's face. I felt bad for making her feel bad but I hate how she's keeping me in the dark about why I am, the way I am. I needed answers and probably that way I would've been able to understand this all, kinda.

My mothers' brown eyes met mine and it said 'sorry' to me. It reminded me of the look I gave Chase when I was keeping him in the dark about my situation, and now a wave of guilt swept over me.

I kept this secret from Chase to protect him... My mother is just trying to protect me also.

I let out my frustration with a sigh as I sat next to my mum, sliding her short black her behind her ears "I'm sorry" I whispered.

She smiled and held my hands "Listen my child, I believe in you. I know that whatever choice you make, even if I don't agree with it now, once it is your choice it would be a great choice."

-

My heart pounded to the beat of my feet racing over the hard ground. The thump of my footsteps echoed in my ears as beads of sweat trailed down my forehead. The surge of adrenaline rippling inside me causing me to run faster. I was running and jumping across buildings trying to reach to Chaston's home as fast as possible.

I had a vision where I saw one of the assassins breaking into Chaston's home. That vision was the shortest I've ever seen and since I've barely been sleeping or eating, I guess that's the cause.

My destination came in sight and I slowed down to pay more attention to my surroundings. I saw an assassin standing on top of Chaston's roof. He's dressed in his full assassin wear; mask hood, chest and hip armor, trench coat, black pants, boots.

Why would her come dressed like that? Usually they send people dressed as normal pedestrians. The only explanation is that he's about to reveal the league to Chase.

I wall jumped to the roof to stand right behind the assassin. His back was facing me but I know that he knew I was here.

"Nice to see you, Naosu" My blood went cold at the name Naosu. I shook away the memories that created that name. "Master Blood is ready for you"

"Tell Master Blood to kiss my ass" I spat back, I'm so sick of them.

The assassin chuckled before turning around and pulling down his mask revealing himself. My eyes widened at the sight of him and I found myself feeling calm.

"Namari..." Namari was the leader of the assassins. He was the first and so he's one of the best. He trained most of the assassins and he also trained me.

"We need you to come back Naosu- "

"Mira, please call me Mira" Namari had a look on his face as though I knew he can't do that "You just revealed yourself to me which means that you can call me by my birth name"

"That's why we need you, your brains and gift is a big importance to us"

"No! I hate it there, if I was such a big importance why do I get hurt?"

"we are not about to get into this" He pulled his mask back over his face "Naosu, its either you willingly come back or we drag you back; your choice"

I glared at Namari "You won't get to drag me unless you kill me" I drew my swords off my back.

"You know we can't kill you Naosu" I saw the smirk in his eyes "But we can destroy you"

Before I can say another word Namari jumped off the roof, smashing straight into Chase's window to enter his house; I followed behind. On entering, Namari wasn't in sight. "Slick bitch" I whispered. I heard footsteps running up the stairs and it was way too noisy to be Namari... had to be Chase.

When he saw me standing at the top of his staircase he began to shook his head "No... NO! Not again" was all he said before turning to run back downstairs. Namari came to the bottom of the stairway causing Chase to stop. Chase looked back at me and then looked at Namari, he had a look of confusion on his face. Probably trying to figure out why he's in this mess.

"Come behind me Chaston" I said while walking down the stairs. With that being said Chaston ran to come behind me.

Namari made his way up the stairs and we began to fight. Namari always said I was his best student so I gave him a fight. While fighting I realized that Namari was trying to remove my scarf.

He's trying to reveal me to Chaston... We only reveal ourselves to people in the league or to people we are about to kill...

"Chaston, run!"

I knocked Namari's sword out his hand and corned him, placing my sword on his neck. "Kill me, please" Namari whispered.

I used my spared hand and stabbed Namari with my knock out drug.

"I'm not no killer Namari"

I ran upstairs to see if I can find Chaston. He was in his room packing clothes into a suitcase; he seems so terrified.

"Leaving is a good idea, he wakes up in 6 hours and he'll leave your house. Don't be here when he's awake" I turned to walk away but what Chaston said next caused my body to run cold.

"Mira..."
