Hey guys! Really long time, no see! Anyways, so I'm doing what I said I would do in my message board, and in case you guys don't ever want to have anything to do with my message board and have a strong dislike towards it I'll tell you now so that you don't have to deal with the drama of looking at it right now! So, I'm going to put the first chapter of HoH and other one-shots about it in this story instead of having to make the commitment of writing it all out...so yeah...anyways it's good to be back!! I can hear the distant sound of fangirls screaming already! Sweet music to my ears! Oh and I don't own Percy Jackson or Heroes of Olympus or any of these characters or Rick Riordan or his kitchen or his mini fridge that I'm sure he has stocked with coke that he's slowly sipping on as he writes another cliffhanger at the end of HoH...anyways, enjoy the story! ; )

Annabeth

“As long as we’re together.”

I surged forward with a gasp for air. I blinked wanting for my eyes to focus the blurriness of the black shades around me, but nothing happened.

I guess Malcolm decided to shut the curtains.

I shakily stood up, about to get dressed and take my cabin to breakfast, until a sharp pain throbbed in my ankle and I fell to the ground in a heap.

Everything came crashing down on me. I suddenly remembered where I was, what really happened. What was going on.

I fell into Tartarus. This hell-hole, Tartarus.

My mouth fell open and I let out a sharp gasp. Percy. Where is Percy?

My heart-rate picked up as I waved my arms around on the ground like a human fan, searching wildly on the cold floor for a warm body. I was crawling on my hands and knees, looking for the slightest bump or crack to lead me to Percy.

That’s when I heard it, a murderous growl coming from behind. Then I heard small footsteps. My heart quickened, I waved my arms faster, scared for my life and Percy’s.

I just need to find him, then I’ll be safe.

The growl sounded again, only there were more that followed. Now it sounded as if it was running, faster and faster. Closer and closer.

I was in a frenzy now. I had no weapon, my backpack was gone, there was no way of fighting this-this, whatever it was.

My hands were working at deathly fast speeds, knowing he couldn’t have fell far from me, we were holding each other in a death grip. He couldn’t just be-

Suddenly I hit something.

I found myself looking at my broken boyfriend sprawled out on the ground, not moving, barely breathing.

The footsteps faded away as I stared at his lifeless body.

“Oh no no no no no. This cannot be happening.” How could he be hurt so badly while I just get to walk away on my bad ankle?

I wiped away the thick blood that was stuck to the left side of his face. He had a huge gash on his forehead, probably from a falling rock, or maybe even the impact, but that doesn’t matter. I just need to get him fixed.

Suddenly, there was a gasp and he snapped up, automatically pulling riptide out with him.

A golden glow enveloped us and I could see his face clearly. He looked frightened, yes, Percy Jackson looked scared.

And that made me even more scared than I already was.

“Oh, Percy.” I whispered. I crawled closer to him as he embraced me and started kissing my cheeks and my forehead.

“Are you hurt? Are you okay? Is everything alright?” he asked, worriedly inspecting my face and my extremities for broken bones or scratches.

“Yes, yes. I’m fine Percy.” I said absently. Meanwhile I was inspecting him and something caught my eye.

“Oh Gods Percy . . .” I whispered, “Your shoulder.”

His shoulder was bent and bloody and out of place. He, obviously still in shock, didn’t even notice it, and looked surprised when I pointed it out.

He looked down at it and then looked back up at me, with a hopeless expression on his face. Neither of us were doctors, but I had to do something.

I leaned him up against a back wall and ripped off his sleeve to examine the shoulder. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was doing, but at least I was doing something.

“It’s bad, isn’t it?” He got out in between breaths.

“No-no sweetie. It’s alright, everything’s fine. I’m just going to have to pop it back in. And I just need you to be quite okay? Not a sound, try really hard okay?” I used a motherly voice, trying to sound as calm as I could.

He nodded, his eyebrows creased, “Okay.”

He took a shaky, deep breath and I quickly grabbed his arm and pulled upward. A sickening crack sounded.

Percy, being the strong hero I know and love, didn’t make a sound except for a small gasp that escaped his lips, and passed out. His eyes rolled over and he fell forward on me, all of his weight on my shoulders.

I tried not to move and be completely quiet. I didn’t want to attract monsters because there was no chance in hell that we were going to fight.

And I guess this was hell so I wasn’t prepared to leave Percy on the ground while I tried to defend myself with his sword against a monster I’ve probably never heard of.

The weight of my situation suddenly came crashing down.

I was alone. Well except for an unconscious boyfriend who could be out for days for all I know. But I was truly alone. No one to help me now, not even the Gods could help. No friends, not even my own knife or a piece of ambrosia.

I was all alone.

Tears came flooding out of me, dripping all over my shirt and the back of Percy’s head. I held him tight and cried into his shoulder.

Help me someone, help me please!

I’ve been through a lot my whole, but nothing like this. I’ve been chased off, beaten, hurt, yelled at, and spit on. But this tops it all. From me running from home when I was six, to me finding out my boyfriend was taken by Hera to the roman camp. I’ve never been more scared. And the longer I’m down here, the more I feel like I can’t do this.

I, Annabeth Chase, felt like giving up.

And the worst part of it all . . . I couldn’t feel Percy’s pulse anymore.
