Her warm body stood close to mine, swaying in time to one of our favorite song. Trying to step lightly, I gave the dance my all, hoping it was good enough for the wonderful girl holding my hand and laying her head gently against my chest.

This is a feeling I've never felt

but it’s all about us

I felt like a king on top of the world. My steps continued to grow in confidence, as my partner continued to teach me how to dance.

“I keep imagining we’re in a ballroom full of people.” She muttered.” They think we’re amazing.”

I chuckled,” and what else?”

“They’re just watching us. We’re the only two dancing in the room.”

“And we’re the most amazing dancers.” I smiled.” We’re the King and Queen of the world right now.”

She laughed, tossing her head back in glee,” Yes! It’s all about us.”

“Us.” I whispered back, letting the warm tingling feeling wash over my chest. I kissed her cheek, and continued to the beat of the old radio playing in the old truck parked next to our favorite place; the lake.

Suddenly, I'm feeling brave

Don't know what’s gotten into me

Why I feel this way

Can we dance, real slow

Can I hold you real close

On a whim, I suddenly held her hand out and spun her around. She laughed and twirled a couple times and came back giggling against my chest.

My steps grew wider, and I took her up in my arms, swinging her around a little bit, while we both started singing aloud to the music.

Then I deliberately set a slower pace, letting her calm down and letting the atmostphere divert itself to us again.

“The crowd of people are clapping, my love.” I whispered, “They think you’re gorgeous.”

“And they think you’re handsome. We’re the perfect couple.” She closed her eyes.

I pulled her in closer to myself, feeling like I could never be close enough to her. She had to stay right here in my arms or I’d die.

This was something I’d never felt before.

I loved her.

The song on the radio gradually came to an end, leaving a low crackling sound. We didn’t stop dancing though. We just kept going, keeping up the image of a ballroom with hundreds of melting hearts watching us fall deeper in love.

Soon another song came waltzing on the radio.

“It’s our song!” she said excitedly.

“Then shall we dance some more?” I winked.
