An owl hooted as it landed on his arm. He stroked the fluffy brown feathers on it's head as he fed the bird a treat. The owl nipped the boy's hand and he breathed in sharply.
"You didn't deserve that treat Barney." he said.
The barn owl, Barney, hooted happily and seemed to even smile. The boy shook his head and tied the hand written letter to Barney's claw.
"To Miss Hermione Granger." the boy whispered as the clock struck midnight.
The barn owl swiftly flew out of the window and around the castle, up into the sky and past the moon delivering a letter.
A letter that would change everything.
