Why some things begin then just end

I heard a knock on my door. Nag-stop ako sa pagsstrum ng gitara ko. “Bukas po!” I shouted.

The door opened. It was my mom. “Anak.” She entered my room.

Lumingon ako sa kanya. “We’ve decided to transfer you to another school. And nakahanap na kami ng kuya mo.”

“Where?” Inilapag ko yung gitara sa tabi ko and humarap kay mama.

“Sa Blue Skies Academy. Ten minutes away from our subdivision. Hindi ka mahihirapan if ever late kang lumabas. It’s a good school.”

“E si kuya, lilipat din po ba?” Sakto, biglang pumasok si kuya sa loob ng kwarto.

“Sorry Dom, hindi na kita masasamahan sa bago mong school. Mahirap mag-adjust sa college e.” Umupo si kuya sa tabi ko sa may bench sa bintana.

“Sweety, you understand naman na mahirap yung course ng kuya mo diba? Kung ako nga lang talaga masusunod, hindi ko kayo paghihiwalayin ng kuya mo.”

Umakbay sakin si kuya. “Okay lang yun Dom. Kasabay mo pa rin naman ako sa umaga pag nakasasakyan e. Mas mauuna ka nga lang.” I hugged kuya sa bewang niya.

“Okay.”

Tumabi rin si mommy samin. “Don’t be sad Dom, once you see your new school, you’ll like it there.”

“Oo nga Dom! Tapos I heard, may malawak na soccer field. May pool din. And mas malaki pa yun sa dati mong school!” Masayang sabi ni kuya habang naka-akbay pa rin siya sakin.

“Tomorrow, Dom honey, do you want to come with me? I-eenroll na kita.” I just nod.

That night, naka-skype ko si Aira.

“Francine babe, are you really sure na lilipat ka na? Iiwan mo na talaga ko?” Nag-pout si Aira.

“Hey, you know the reason naman kung bakit diba? Alam mo, ayoko naman talaga umalis e, kahit na ang daming nangyari.” Yumuko ako.

“Nako. Nevermind what happened, tapos na yun e. Forget all about it.”

I showed her my weak smile. “Wala naman akong ibang magagawa diba? So yeah. I’ll just pretend that all of it never happened.”

“Just.. enjoy your new school, okay? Pero wag masyado. Kasi baka makalimutan mo naman ako.”

“Sus. We’ll meet pa rin naman diba?” She nodded.

“Of course! Just give me a call or text whenever you need me ha?” She smiled.

“Yeah.”

“Osige Cine, I have to go na. We’ll be going out e. I’ll text you na lang ha? Bye! Loveyou.” Nag flying kiss siya.

“Take care.” Tapos sabay na kaming nag-offline.

I put my laptop away and then nahiga sa kama. Lumingon ako sa bedside table ko then I forgot to burn the picture on top of it. Inabot ko to and lumabas ng kwarto.

Nung nasa tapat na ko ng kwarto ni kuya, I’ve changed my mind. I looked at the picture. For the sake of mom and kuya, I’ll be okay kahit lokohin ko ang sarili ko.
