Thirteen years have now come and gone,

But the memories still remain,

Of the special day you came into our life,

And we knew that nothing would ever be the same.

Your precious smile so big and true,

One I know I'll never forget,

No matter the pain this day brings,

It's a day I could never regret.

Your big blue eyes said so much,

Full of innocence and purity,

If only then I'd known your destiny,

So many things I would have done differently.

I would have held you twice as long,

Watched you more each day,

And pleaded with God to let you stay.

This day I sit here and think of you,

Trying not to dwell on what could have been,
