Elizabeth's POV

"Elizabeth Ann Hart! If you don't hurry up I will leave with out you!" I heard a voice from the other side of my door.

I looked at my self in the mirror. My blond hair was curled and lay lightly on my shoulder, my blue eyes eyes were lined with purple and silver shadow, my lips were covered in a dark pink purple color and then I place my mask on to complete the look.

My dress was purple, black, and white and had a tight lace bodice, with a full skirt, and off the shoulder straps.

I opened the door to see Ava.

Ava Lunnen, she was 22 with long red hair, dark brown eyes, pale skin, she was taller than I was. She wore a black dress with a tight bodice, a full skirt, the sleeves were quarter length, she had a bright gold mask on also and her hair was pulled in to a tight bun.

"Would you calm down Ava?" I walked out of the my room and down the stairs. She follows me out to the carriage.

Rae the driver held open the door for us. I picked up my dress and took a seat on the left side of the carriage; Ave sat a cross from me.  Ava was normally quite on rides. The carriage started and we moved past all the plantation homes.

We finally arrived, at the Shaws home. We stood in line to be greet by them. "Ah, Elizabeth, Ava its so nice of you to joy us for the festivities." Mrs. Catherine Shaw she was sweet women gracefully aging, she had long light brown hair the was pulled to the right of her head and tied off with a ribbion, she had dark green eyes, light skin, and she wore a pale pink dress that had sleeves go down to her wrists.

"It was our pleasure." Ava spoke politely, I just stood up straight and nodded like normal.

"Well, please enjoy  the party." Mr. John Shaw, he was good hearted man, his hair was starting to turn grey, his eyes were light blue and he wore a light gray suit and black tie.

"Thank you." Ava pushed me through the door and into the party.

I notice a lot of people, the Lowels, Mirks, Tylers, etc. "Ah, Miss Hart. Miss Lunnen." We turned to see Stephan Shaw walking towards us. "Mr. Shaw, hello." Ava took a fancy to Stephan; and I couldn't blame her. He was tall, dark brown hair, brown eyes that want to make you melt and he was one of the richest families in town. Next to mine.

"Miss Lunnen please call me Stephan." She smiled; he lightly picked up her hand and kissed it.

"I was wondering if I could steal Miss Hart away for a dance." He turned to me and smiled. "It would be my pleasure." He held out his and I took it. I mouthed 'I'm sorry' to Ava; she just glared at me.

He lead me to the dance floor. He placed his right hand on my hip and held my other. We slowly moved to the music. "So, Miss Hart-" I cut him off. "Please call me Elizabeth. " I quickly said. "Elizabeth, what do you think of the party?" he looked down at me.

"Its lovely." I politely said. "You know Ava may not like this." I said quietly. "Really and why is that?" He whispered into my ear.

"She has seem to take a fancy towards you." I said.

"Miss Ava, is nice but...." I paused and then continued. "there is another women that I'm interested in." He said. Another women? Hm... "Really and who might be this lucky girl?" I asked. "You." He bluntly said.

"Me?"

"Yes you. Is that so weird?" His husky voice sent shivers down my spin.

"Flattery with get you no where." he chuckled a couple of other dance parents shot us glares. "Is that so?" He chuckled. "Come with me.." He started pulling me away from the party.

I looked for Ava but I didn't see her. We started to walk down a the a hallway; we came to a pair of dark french doors. "Come on." He pulled me through the door. "Want something to drink?" Picked up up a bottle of whiskey and held it to me. "No, no thank you." He look a big drink of it. "Suit your self." He poured himself a drink.

After a about 3 hours and 20 drinks Stephan was drunk.

We both had taken off our masks. "I think I should be getting back to the party." I had been here long enough and I started to feel uncomfortable. I stood up and started to walk towards the door but was quickly grabbed my the wrist. "No no no, stay the party is just starting." Stephan pulled me into his body. His breath smelled like whiskey.

"The party has been going on, for about 3 hours now." I tried to slip out of his tight grasp, but he was stronger than me. "Please stay." He whispered into my ear, which sent shivers down my spine.

"Ava will be looking for me." I tried once more to get out of his grasp.

"Oh come now, your 17 Elizabeth when are you going to stop having Ava watch over you?" He was starting to slur his worlds. "Come now sit back down; and loosen up." He started to pull me to the couch again.

I sat down again; he sat closer to me this time. He started to lean closer to my face until we were an inch apart. Then he kissed me; it was powerful and forced. I quickly pushed him off of me and stood up.

"Stephan! What in gods name are you doing?" I asked.

"Loosening you up." He simply said with a drunken smile. "I think its about time I leave." I grabbed my mask and started for the door. "Oh no no no." He grabbed me again and tried to kiss me, but I slapped him; making him stumble back a couple steps. "Your a tough one aren't you?" He rubbed his jaw and chuckled.

"You have know idea. Now for the last time, your drunk and I'm leaving." I walked out of the room with out him grabbing me.

I placed my mask back on, and rejoined the party.

After ten minutes of looking for someone I knew I was pulled in to another room.

"Where have you been?" The voiced hissed, finally I realized who it was. Ava

"Outside." I lied through my teeth. "Your lying, now tell me the truth." She hissed. " I was outside." I said walking to the door.

"You were with Stephan, all this time weren't you?" She asked grabbing me by the wrist. "Fine you want to know where I really was. I was fighting off a drunken Stephan." I pulled out of her tight grasp and left the room.

"I made my way to the front doors and started my way home." I never walked home alone, and never at night but I didn't care. I knew the Shaws didn't live very far from me.

"I made about half way home or what I thought was half way home when I felt like someone was watching me.

I turned around to make sure know one was following me, and I saw know one.

I continued back to walking.

After awhile I started to hear foot steps. So naturally I looked back again and saw nothing. I kept walking and I heard them again.

When I turned around I saw  a tall dark figure standing infront of me. He or she tried to hit me but missed. I started to run away, but the dark figure was faster than me. I felt a hard object hit me in the back of the neck, and then everything went black.
