Prologue

I was standing on a wooden crate in front of a small crowd just doing the usual.

"I'm going to sing The Voice Within by Christina Aguilera" I said and took a deep breath and began to do what I do best. My fingers ran over the strings of my old guitar while my voice flowed with the melody.

Young girl don't cry

I'll be right here when your world starts to fall

Young girl it's alright

Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly

When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream

Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems

No one ever wants or bothers to explain

Of the heartache life can bring and what it means

Chorus:

When there's no one else, look inside yourself

Like your oldest friend just trust the voice within

Then you'll find the strength that will guide your way

You'll learn to begin to trust the voice within

As I began to get in the song I just lost and closed my eyes and began to sway to the song I was singing.

Young girl don't hide

You'll never change if you just run away

Young girl just hold tight

Soon you're gonna see your brighter day

Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed

It's so hard to stand your ground when you're so afraid

No one reaches out a hand for you to hold

When you look outside look inside to your soul

Chorus

Life is a journey

It can take you anywhere you choose to go

As long as you're learning

You'll find all you'll ever need to know

You'll break it

(hold on)

You'll make it

Just don't forsake it because

No one can tell you what you can't do

No one can stop you, you know that I'm talking to you

Chorus

Young girl don't cry I'll be right here when your world starts to fall

The song came to the end and I felt a tear slip out of my eye and the applauses filled my ears. It brought a smile to my face to see people enjoy the music I played but that song always get to me. Just singing it makes me think of the past. People threw money in my guitar case and began to disappear in the night. I sit down on the wooden crate I was standing on before and begin to count the money I made today. I sighed only 30 bucks, at least I can get something to eat. I began to pack everything up.

I walked down the street looking for some place to eat. I found a little café not far Greenwood Court. I got me two sandwiches and a large bottle of water and still hand 20 dollars left. After I finish one of my sandwiches I put the other in my back with the water bottle. I stood up from my chair and left the little café. As I walked farther and farther away I realize that I had nothing left for me hear. I had nothing but music to my name.
