Why can't I be an animagus?

~:Chapter eight:~

At Hogsmede the three maradurs headed into the three broomsticks and sat down, James went and ordered the drinks then joined his little group of friends, but in the corner Severus was watching closely...

"So what we doing tonight?" Peter asked

"Not much because..." Remus leant forward and everybody else copied him "it's a full moon..." He whispered, Severus's ears perked up at this...

"So it's down to the shrieking shack in animal form?" Sirius whispered

"Yeah, Lily, Tonks don't come for your own safety" Remus said

"I do feel sorry for you Remus" Tonks said as she grabbed Remus's hand

"You shouldn't Tonks, it's over and done with now, I got bitten that was it there is no cure for it...I wish there was..." Remus said staring into the distance, he gave Tonks's hand a little squeeze then let go

Even though Tonks and Remus had their little fights they did truly love each over, it was plain to see. Meanwhile in the corner Severus was gathering up what he had just heard, full moon? Shrieking shack? That place was hanted! 'What could Remus possibly want in the shrieking shack, and James and his little gang, animal form? What?' Severus thought angrily

"I wish I could come Remus" Tonks said after she took a sip of her butterbeer  

"Being an Animagus is cool but it's really hard to learn..." James said sighing

"I know..." Tonks said miserably staring down at her almost empty glass

"We better go now, it won't be long before it's dark..." Sirius said standing up

"Ok then, lets go..." Remus said half smiling

They all left and Seveus sneakily followed behind, making sure he was out of sight of the group. He dodged in between the shops edging his way forward every so often, James double took at one point so Severus was extra careful. 

At last the group made it to the whomping willow, Remus hugged Tonks and James hugged Lily (Sirius gagged at this) the two girls left and the group were alone by the whomping willow, at least they thought they were...

Severus watched them for a moment, Remus was busy staring up at the sky waiting for the clouds to shift from the moon, that was Peter's signal to tap the roots just in the entrance in animal form then Remus would dash inside and the others would follow in their animal form. Severus waited patiently but then the clouds un-covered the moon.

Peter suddenly turned into a rat and ran towards the whomping willow where there was a gap big enough for the werewolf Remus, Peter tapped the roots and made sure the whomping willow didn't attack his friends and with that he ran down the hole.

James turned into a stag and ran into the willow, then Remus ran down there (not in werewolf form), Sirius was just about to turn into a dog when he just happened to glance backwards, he saw Severus hiding behind a tree, Sirius ran over and grabbed him by the tie.

"What are you doing here you filthy rat?!" Sirius hissed

"Nothing..."

"Don't lie to me!"

"F-Fine! I came to see what you were doing! And why is Remus scared of the moon?"

"Because..." Sirius was about to say his best friends secret but then had a cunning idea, just then James ran out of the willow (still as a stag) and guarded the entrance loyally. "You see that stick over there?" Sirius pointed to a stick nearby and Severus nodded "pick it up and poke that root just inside the entrance of the tree..." Sirius smirked

Severus nodded and walked over to the stick, Sirius changed into a dog and ran over to James, they comunicated somehow and both of them moved out of the way. Severus walked towards the tree with the stick in his hand, Sirius was laughing in his mind as he watched. Severus edged closer but then...

WHAM!

The whomping willow has smacked him in the face.

WHAM!

And again in hit him this time in the leg causing him to trip over, James gasped (in his mind stags don't gasp) Sirius couldn't help but think that this was sweet revenge. Now the whomping willow was about to finish Severus off...

James returned to being a human and grabbed Severus before he was killed, Sirius had stopped those happy thoughs and was shocked at James's actions. His best friend had just helped the enemy! Why? And how?

James dragged Severus over into a safe spot, just then Remus and Peter returned Remus wasn't in werewolf form his transformation had been over and done with. Peter returned to human form and so did Sirius.

"What happened?" Remus asked confused staring at a knocked out Severus

"Nothing much..." Sirius coughed trying to look innocent

"What happened Sirius?" Peter frowned "what did you do?"

"Oh nothing much, just told him to poke the roots with a long stick" 

"REMUS!" Someone yelled, Remus turned around and saw Tonks running towards him along with Lily.

"Oh my goodness! What happened!" Lily screamed looking at Severus in horror

"Snivelus got hit by the willow and James saved him..." Sirius growled

"Look, I know I hate him but if I hadn't of moved him, one: he would be dead and two: all of us would of been expelled" James said in his own defence

"Fine but when we get back to the castle i'm telling Dumbledore that we found him unconsciousoutside of the willow" Sirius said

"Fine, right Peter you grab hold of his legs and I will grab hold of his arms" James said pointing at Severus.

And the group made a slow walk back up to the castle.
