Peggy Woods: Caucasian woman in her early twenties. She comes from a family of self-made wealth and is constantly told to follow gender roles by her mother. This results in a broken relationship between them. She is a closeted lesbian and has dreams of becoming a performer.
Rosie: An African-American flapper that meets Peggy in a speakeasy. She is also lesbian, but more open about it.
