I walk down the street

There’s a voice, and a face

In the window

And you reach out a hand

Just a moment too late to be found

I let out a sigh and the wind

Rushes by ‘til I’m faded

And I find out I’ve waited too long.

Your mouth is a cup

Overturned full of wine

And it’s running

Red down the side of a wall

To the soles of your shoes

A moment too late

And the stars will debate

Their returning

I revel too long in the beauty of what used to be.

Open your eyes

And remember the taste of tomorrow

Kiss me and let me

Recant all the lies I have told

Pull back the blinders

And fall somewhere gravity lets you

Free from what shadows may sing to your soul in the dark.

I call out your name

But the voice as it leaves me

Is broken.

Lost and bereft for a one who has left

On a whim.

I smiled in the sun

While the darkness beneath it

Was claiming you

And I find out I’m singing alone.
