Gochisousama: Said after a meal to show gratitude for the food you've eaten
Gyoza: Japanese dumplings
Halo Halo: A Filipino dessert that comes with ube ice cream and sometimes has sweet corn in it
Hikikomori: A person who seeks isolation; someone who refuses to leave their house
Ichiban: Literally means "the number one", it also means that something is the best
Itadakimasu: Said before a meal, it shows gratitude for the food you are about to eat; often translated as 'let's eat'
Kanji: A form of writing in Japanese
Miso soup: Soup made out of miso paste, which is made of fermented soybeans
Ninja: A covert agent in feudal Japan
Ojisan: Means 'Uncle.'
Otaku: "Otaku" is a term that usually means someone nerdy who likes anime, manga, etc. But it can also be someone who is deeply interested in technology.
Takuan: Pickled radish.
Tofu: Everyone knows what tofu is, right? In case you don't, it's basically soy in a compressed block form.
Tsukemono: Pickled vegetables. It's very, very yummy! You can usually get them as a side dish at Japanese or Korean restaurants (but they're not called that in Korean restaurants. Haha.)
Unmei akai ito: The red string of fate. In Chinese and Japanese culture there's a legend that says you and your soulmate are bound together by an invisible red string, and though the string may tangle it will never break.
Urusai: It's a rude word, meaning shut up or be quiet. You probably shouldn't use it in conversation unless it's with your bff, or something; can also mean noisy.
Uso wa nusubito no hajimari: Japanese proverb which means something along the lines of, "Show me a liar and I'll show you a thief"
Yakusoku: Means 'promise.'
