'Just breathe, just breathe. You can survive alone Riley. Just keep breathing.'
James repeated.
Those words keep replaying in my head like some sick joke.
How can I breathe when he's not here? When I don't know where he is. If he's even okay. How can I be okay?
He just kept repeating 'just breathe' like he knew I would hold onto those two words.
I didn't realise at that time what he was trying to tell me. That was the moment, the last moment I had with James. He somehow knew those words would keep me going.
James Reed was a mystery to most, a myth, a legend. He wasn't to me. I thought he would never be to me.
'Just keep breathing' was the last sentence James ever said to me. And that very night James Reed disappeared and became the mystery everyone thought he always was.
