Chapter 2

His name was Zane Austen, and he sure was easy on the eyes. I mean I could look at him forever if I could.

Maybe that was the reason why not even five minutes of meeting the guy and I've already managed to embarrassed myself.

Dad had warned me that Zane was moving in with us today. However, I didn't realized that Dad really meant was this afternoon. After I finished my afternoon swim I was glad that I still had the house to myself so I didn't even bother covering myself up. I was walking towards the kitchen to get some juice from the fridge when a way-above-average-good-looking guy had walked in and I couldn't help but scream in surprise. The floor happened to be very slippery due to the water I had dragged in with me and I slipped and poured my apple juice all over myself.

I could feel the heat on my cheeks. I realized that it probably wasn't a very good idea to walk around a marbled floor when you were wet. I just wished I had realized that five minutes earlier. I sighed, too late now.

Zane had taken a few careful steps towards me, avoiding the wet floor. I looked down on the floor, embarrassed of myself.

"Are you alright?" Zane asked when he got close enough to me.

And just like that I froze in place. It was like time had stopped and for the first time. I liked the sound of his voice. Wait what am I talking about? This was not the time to think about how delicious his voice had sounded.

He knelt beside me, his brows pulled together in concern above his green eyes. He had the most wonderful green eyes I've ever seen. Pure emeralds indented to his perfect face.

When I said perfect, I really did mean perfect. He had a nice tan, which told me that he spent most of his time outdoors. Plus I couldn't help but notice his strong jaw, which made him looked tough. He had nice cheekbones too. He looked like a younger version of Paul Wesley. At least he had Paul Wesley's mysterious dark edge to him.

"Just dandy," I said when I finally found my voice.

He took my hand, and pulled me to my feet. I couldn't help but noticed his smell. He smelled good to say the least. I wondered if he wore any kind of perfume. There was nothing more attractive than a guy who smells good. He didn't reek of axe. It was something else, and I liked it.

Right on cue, Dad and Mom entered the kitchen.

             "What happened?" Mom asked.

"Oh there you are, Shan," Dad said.

"Why is the floor so wet?" Mom asked. "Good lord, Teressa was only gone for an hour and this place already looks like a tsunami had attacked."

I gave my mom a sly smile.

"Sorry," I muttered looking around the kitchen. I hadn't noticed that I was that wet. I should have taken a towel with me before entering the house.

Then I suddenly realized that I was in nothing but my bathing suit. I wanted to die, right there and then. Not only was I lacking in clothes, but my hair was a messed. Not to mention that I could feel my chest getting sticky due to the apple juice that I had spilled on myself.

What a great first impression. I bet Zane thinks I'm a dork now.

"Well better clean up kiddo or you might catch a cold," Dad said exiting the kitchen and into his study.
