I Be Me

Can I be the real me?

What will be said.

this act I keep up,

for the sake of them.

I love the knowledge,

but life would be

mine had they let

me choose.

I don't understand,

why bottle it?

why must it be

me? My life isn't

perfect - even

though it may

seem- sometimes

the most perfect

fairytales are

the worst realities.

but they don't

really know.

they are jealous,

but in reality

have it much

better than they

could ever know.

but I'm me, so

they will never

know.

I don't want

your pity. I

want peace.

I want to

drop the fake

smiles and

pretenses- acting

the part- the

perfect daughter

I try to be.

but I am not-

I am me.

can't I just be? Be Me.
