(Author's Note - Written for challenge 21 - a drabble, 100 words exactly. Prompt - a radio transmission.

Who sends it? What does it say? Why is it special? Where, or when, does it come from?)

Travelling through dark space, far beyond the solar system, the passengers and crew of Endeavour 2 slept on, safely tucked in their cryo-capsules. Most of them would stay that way for centuries, programmed only to awake when the ship neared Alpha Centauri, their destination. Carter and Jackson, the crew currently rostered awake and on maintenance duty, were running diagnostics on the communications system. It seemed there was a problem - no messages had been received from Earth for six months. A red light flashed, indicating an incoming signal. Both smiled, relieved. At last. Unbelieving, they stared at the message.

"Mayday!"
