*warning of body insecurity*

You went to work early that morning. The halls of the USS Enterprise were emptier than usual, not many people had to stay up for the night shift. Your older brother, Jim Kirk, would has to work both as much as possible. He would stay really late, sleep in a little later, and then do it all over again. He was your adoptive brother, but the two of you were very close.

You walked into the science lab to get to work. First officer, Spock, would be working with you on this project. You were nervous, Spock was your crush.

Spock was already sitting at a table, four different species of flowers sitting in front of him. You sat next to him, pulling the short dress down to make it look longer. You didn't really like your legs or stomach, even though they were perfectly fine.

"Alright, Y/N, take the pedals off the flowers, we need an easy pollen sample." Spock instructed, typing things into a PADD. You did as you were told, taking quick breaks to straighten the dress. It had become an obsession.

"Finished." You say, setting the flowers down in their designated categories. Spock looked over at you, a nervous look on his face.

"Are you alright?" He asked, setting down the PADD.

"Yeah, I'm fine." You say, straightening the dress again.

"You keep straightening your dress." Spock pointed out. You blushed and nodded.

"Yeah. It's just a little insecurity." You say, trying to go back to work.

"Why do you have it?" Spock asked, completely distracted.

"I was adopted. I always grew up being told I wasn't good enough. It just sorta stuck." You answer, still straightening the dress.

"Well I think you look perfect." Spock said, grabbing your hand.

"Thanks, but I'm not." You insist.

"You are. You're great. Will you go out with me?" Spock asked, his face lighten up a little. You nod and smile. "There's no need to be insecure, you look amazing."

"Thanks Spock." You say, letting go of his hand. "We should get back to work."

"Yes. Yes." Spock muttered, going back to work.

Later that day, Spock walked into the bridge. "How was working with my sister?" Kirk asked. Spock shrugged and sat down.

"She is a lovely girl. She agreed to go out on a date with me later this week. I look forward to courting her." Spock said going straight to work.

"What?" Kirk asked, turning the chair 180 degrees.

"She agreed." Spock added, continuing to work.

"I understand that. Now, hurt her and you die. Understood?" Kirk asked, smirking at Spock with a smug grin.

"Yes captain." Spock said without looking up. Kirk just rolled his eyes and continued watching the screen.

Spock secretly smiled, just for a second. No one saw, but it felt good. He had a wonderful date later this week.
