Chapter 7 Stalker

The next two weeks of school went by pretty fast, and we were going on another break soon. Everyday was about the same for me. I made a lot of new friends and had to keep up to remember their names.

I had successfully finished writing all the thank you cards for the people who gave me a present and I made sure that each card gets to everyone either from me or from their friends.

There was still chaos whenever Sam and I were around, but we have gotten used to it and things have been toned down a little since the first day of school. I was constantly surrounded by people, urging me to join the sports teams, inviting me to parties, asking me to help with their homework, etc. Although I was often overwhelmed by the noise that were around me, it felt good to be surrounded by friends who cared, despite that there were ones who intended to use me for their own selfish purposes. I know who those people were, just by the way they acted around me, the way they talked to me.

I have been an observer for many years, ever since I took psychology. The class was really useful and since I was lucky enough to get a good professor and afterward a good tutor, I was more than proficient with the subject and it developed into my second nature, similar to all the training. Everything that I have learned has done me some good, more or less.

I know to keep my eyes on those people and never turn my back on them. I made sure that I won over the hearts of many people so that they would help me keep an eye on those fakes, willingly. So far, they were doing a great job and updating me the information that they have collected. I made sure to thank them back for doing everything for me.

One of the people that I kept my eyes on is Selena. Ever since she found out that Sam was back, she has been trying everything she could to get him and that includes pretending to be my best friend. She expects me to be taking her over to my place and maybe a sleepover so that she can spend the night 'with' Sam. She thinks that as best friends, I will update her on everything about Sam's life and help her get a date with my brother. She's also hopes that in becoming my best friend, the school will become more lenient on her studies as well, allowing her to get the same special treatment as Sam and I.

I'm not going to let her get what she wants, after all, I am a senior and she is only a junior. First of all, I don't share any classes with her, besides having lunch together with her. Second, I am always surrounded by the seniors, which provides a barrier between Selena and I, despite that she's a cheerleader. The cheerleaders and I have gotten closer, ever since Erica, the cheer captain, and I became good friends. Erica is different from the cheerleaders. She's a really nice girl and very smart. Unlike the other cheerleaders, she's more down to earth and she doesn't believe in rumors. At first, I had doubts about her, but after a good background search about her, I found that I could believe her. If anything, she would be one of the last to betray me. Third, Sam made sure that most of the seniors know that he wants Selena away from him and I.

Everyone tries really hard to do their job, especially Erica. She made sure that Selena sits at the end of the table every time I sit with the cheerleaders. Every time Selena would try to talk to me, someone would interrupt her before she could even have the chance to finish up her sentence. She realizes this and gets really mad about it, but there's nothing that she can do about it since she doesn't have the guts to go against any of the seniors. It would only get her kicked out off the squad.

Similar to the first day of school, I have bodyguards with me all the time. Although my friends might not know the actual skills required to become professional bodyguards, they have done a great job keeping people away from me.

However, Selena does not know when to give up. There were a couple of times when I spotted her trying to follow us back home. During those days, Sam and I would usually end up going to Aaron's place instead. Ever since the first time that that happened, we made sure that we always remembered to keep some clean clothes in the trunk of our car.

Today, Selena decided that she wanted to talk to me no matter what. She tried to corner me in a stall when I excused myself from class to go to the restroom.

"What are you doing?" I asked her, trying to sound scared.

"I just wanted to talk to you, that's all," she said, frustrated. "I don't understand why everyone is trying to prevent me from speaking to you and trying to keep me away from you."

"Well, you were following us a couple of times, in your car, after school," I said, almost innocently.

"How did you know I was following you?" she asked, dropping her mouth.

"Sam is a very careful driver. He realized that something was wrong, the first day that you followed us. We were going to Aaron's house anyway, so when we were in the house, we saw you got out of your car. I asked Aaron if he had invited you over and his reply was no," I lied. The truth was, I noticed her following right after we left the school parking and and I told Sam to take the car to Aaron's. I texted Aaron while we were on our way over and told him that we were being followed by Selena. Aaron, knowingly, told us that we can stay over at his place. When we were at the top floor, we peered out his window and spotted Selena stepping out of her car and trying to decided whether or not she should come in. Aaron, by that time, had already called for backup and members of the football team started parking their cars in his driveway. When they got out, some went over to Selena and scared the crap out of her and she fled.

She got closer to me, she didn't believe me. "You never left his place that night."

"Well, that exactly proves my point there: you were stalking us. This is why people are trying to keep me away from you." She was about to open her mouth and counter back, but I never gave her the chance. "You're desperate. I know you like Sam, but that's not ever going to be possible since you have been stalking us. What kind of girl does that? Do you know that it will only make you look like a creep? Do you have any idea what others might think of you if we leaked this information? Do you not feel ashamed of yourself? I could get you kicked off the cheer team just like that," I said, snapping my fingers. "Selena, I know that you're not the type to give up, but trust me, you should. Sam is not into creepers. Once a creeper, always a creeper. I also know that you would go to any extent just to get what you want. For example, trying to get me to be your best friend. That, I can guarantee, will never happen. I don't like people who have intentions when they want to befriend someone. Don't think that I'm stupid. I'm not going to give you what you want. Don't think that everyone is stupid to let you use them for your own selfish purposes. So if you're smart, you would take my advice and stay away from Sam and I." My statements were coming out stronger and stronger. She had started backing away from me as I gave my speech. I washed my hands and left her standing at the same place as I went back to class.
