Maddie

I watched closely as Sadie angrily walked back inside. Did I do something to make her upset? I knew the answer as she walked up to Josh and put her hand on his shoulder.

Lance got up and looked around, only to see Sadie angry.

"Shit, I gotta go. See you at school." I received a quick hug and he ran inside. I couldn't hear what was going on, but all I saw was Sadie getting angrier and Lance getting frustrated. Josh came outside and sat next to me.

"Hey babe." He kissed my cheek.

"Hey, do you know what they were yelling about?" He shook his head.

I felt a pang of regret. I was hitting on Lance because I thought Sadie was hitting on Josh when she wasn't. That's how this whole thing got started. I looked through the window and saw Sadie on the verge of tears and Lance hugging her. He lifted her up and carried her out of the house. I walked through the house and out to the driveway, where Lance was carrying Sadie.

"Lance, is she okay?" He turned to me and nodded. He quickly put his fingers to his lips as a way of shushing me.

"Lance who is that?" Sadie whimpered and tried to get a glimpse of me.

"Come on babe, I gotta get you home." Lance started to walk down the driveway, holding Sadie tightly. Almost as if he was afraid she would break from him.

"No who is that?" She started wiggling trying to see over his shoulder.

"It's just Maddie. She wanted to know if you were okay." She scowled and covered it back quickly.

I didn't get to hear the rest of the conversation because Lance carried Sadie back to his car, and I really didn't want to go over there and seem nosy.

So I went back inside to Josh.
