The next few days went well. Draco and Gwyneth had managed to talk in the common room when it was empty. He even began to help her with her charms homework. Finally the day had arrived. It was Saturday, the day of the trip. They had already planned it out. They would have the first few hours to themselves, then would meet her mother at noon. After that Draco would go to meet his father. As he dressed he couldn't help but smile to himself a little bit. Gwyneth and him had been getting closer. Maybe today he would tell her how he felt. As he gathered up his wand and money for the trip he walked down to the common room. He spotted Gwyneth amongst a small cluster of other Slytherians. Once she caught sight of him she made her way over to stand by him. Today they didn't have to hide because Crabbe and Goyle both had detention due to late homework. As they prepared to leave with the other students Gwyneth looked up at him nervously. He raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong?" She bit her lip, a habit she has when she is anxious. "I've never been to Hogsmead. My parents kept the magical side of the family a secrete until they knew I had powers." Draco smiled. "You'll be fine, there are a lot of muggle borns on this trip." She nodded and relaxed a bit. When they finally arrived in the small town he insisted that they stop for some butter beer. She laughed and agreed, and the two made a beeline for the small store. As they sat at the table Gwyneth began to blush. Draco couldn't help but smile. When the drink arrived he watched as she took her first sip. "This is absolutely amazing!" She said as her eyes lit up. Draco laughed and took a sip of his own. After a few moments Gwyneth looked at him. "Draco I - please don't hate for this but I-I think I like you. And I mean like you more than friends." Draco paused. He couldn't believe it. She loved him. She loved too. She looked at him worried. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have-" He cut her off. "No Gwyneth I like you to. I like you more than friends too." She blushed and smiled. "So what does this mean? Are we together?" Draco smiled, truly smiled. "Gwyneth Nobilis, would you do me the honor of dating me?" Gwyneth blushed as she replied. "Yes I will Draco." He smiled took another sip of his butter beer. Once they had finished the had an hour before meeting Gwyneth's mother. As they walked around the little shops Draco felt the warmth of happiness spread through him. When the time came for them to finally meet up with Gwyneth's mother, they had bought a few sweets and a simple sliver locket for Gwyneth. They apporached the small store where they were meeting her. When they walked in they found it empty except for the cashier and a women who looked like an older version of Gwyneth. "Mum we're here." The woman turned around and smiled. She hugged Gwyneth as she walked over to them. "You must be Draco. Gwyneth has told me a lot about you." Draco smiled politely. "Hello Mrs.Nobilis." The woman laughed. "Now how about we take a seat. I'm sure we have plenty to catch up on." Draco nodded as they walked over to one of the small tables. Once they sat down Gwyneth began to give a vivid account of arriving at Hogwarts. When she had reached the part about the note Draco enchanted, the door was thrown open and a dark fear settled over the three. Draco stood, and watched as a figure in a skull mask steped through the door. You couldn't see his face, but Draco didn't need to. The pale blonde hair was enough. Draco's heart thundered loudly with fear as his father turned twords them. "Draco" He yelled in a sharp and enraged tone "Come here now and watch what happens to those who are not welcome in out world." His father grabbed him by the collar and dragged him to his side. He stood still and looked at Gwyneth who had hidden in the corner. Draco swallowed his fear and spoke. "Father what are you doing? Please leave them be." His father snarled. "Shut up you idiotic boy, and watch." With that Lucius pulled out his wand and pointed it at Gwyneth's mother. "Avada kedavra!" A flash of green jumped from his wand as Draco screamed "No!" But it was too late. They watched as Gwyneth's mother fell to the floor dead. Gwyneth ran to her body, and tried to shake her awake as I it was some joke. Draco turned to his father. "What did you do? She did nothing at all and you just killed her!" Lucius simply put his wand up. "She got what she deserved the filthy muggle now come with me son." He tried to grab Draco's arm but he pulled away. "Never. I'm not your son not anymore. I wish I never carried the name Malfoy!" His father glared at him through the mask. "Very well then. You are no longer a Malfoy, I am disenheriting you this instance!" With that he watched his father leave. As he turned to Gwyneth he saw her crying over her mother's corpse. "Gwyneth I-" "Shut up! Shut up he killed her your father killed my mum!" Draco looked at her as she stares at him, her eyes full of tears and rage. "I never want to see you again I hate you Draco! I hate you!" With that she ran out. He ran after her but he lost track of her. He sighed as he headed back to the village square, alone and devastated.
