Draco looked around the great hall, his usual sneer on his face. It was his third year here at hogwarts. The sorting ceremony was about to begin, where he would see which selected few would be sorted into the better house. Finally the last little witch came up. He looked on with boredom as Professor McGogonal called out her name, "Nobilis, Gweneth." He watched as the timid girl approached the sorting hat. She was wringing her hands nervously, and pushed one side of her mousy brown hair behind her ear. It took less than two seconds for the hat to call out "Slytherian!" The girl paled, and slowly walked over to the table. By this time the only seat open was the one next to Draco. He looked at the girl, a slight sign of disgust only limited by the fact that she was now a Slytherian. The girl turned to him and stuttered. "H-hi...I'm G-Gwyneth. Gwyneth Nobilis." He looked at her out of the corner of his eye. In his mind he knew he shouldn't be wasting his time with her, but for some reason he answered. "Draco, Draco Malfoy. Pureblood son of Lucius Malyfoy." She looked up at him, her eyes wide. He furrowed his eyebrows slightly. "Why are you looking at me like that?" The girl startled and looked down. "It's j-just that I've never meet a Pureblood before. My dad told me all about them, but I didn't think I would meet one." Draco groaned mentally. She was a half blood, definitely not worth him wasting time with conversation. He turned to his food and began eating, talking to Goyle and Crabbe about how this year they would win the house cup. Even though he tried to get Gwyneth out of his mind, he couldn't. It was infuriating. Why couldn't he shake the thought that she was diffrent out of his mind. To prove to himself that she was nothing special he glanced at her through the corner of his eye. He saw her sitting there silently, as if she was nothing more that a statue. She carefully tried a few of the things on her plate and was suprised by their taste. Her face looked like that of a happy kitten's. Come to think about her face was slightly diffrent then most the student's. It was slightly round, still showing signs of childhood, though still slim to match her slim figure. Her eyes were doe eyes the color of chocolate, complimenting her shoulder lenghth brunette hair, which framed her pale complexion that was spotted with a mask of freckles. Her nose was barely anything more than a slim button. He quickly looked back to his own food. What did it matter what she looked like. She just a halfblood. Not worth his time. As they walked to the common room she appeared by his side. They both stayed silent as they entered the room. As much as he tried he couldn't help but steal a quick glance at her. Her face was full of wonderment as she set foot in the room for the first time. He couldn't help but smile quickly. What was he thinking? He's seen plenty of first years enter the common room and never once has he smiled. He quickly wiped it from his face, hoping no one saw. As he climbed up to his room he couldn't help but think that for some reason this girl was special.
