It was the middle of September, almost October. Leaves blowing in the wind, crunching when people walked on them. The sun was high in the sky, it was around one in the afternoon.

Emma, a tall young blonde at the age of fifteen walked out of the juvie detection center, bruises all over her face and cuts on her arms. Luckily she had a flannel on so no one could see the scars.

She noticed a tall, beautiful mixed woman. Her name was Lena at least thats what her social worker said. Sam made Emma stand there. The blonde was looking down.

Lena looked at the sad girl and frowned. She looked at Sam. "So I am taking her, right?" She asked. Sam just nodded and pushed Emma towards the older woman.

Emma ran and sat in Lena's car waiting for the brown haired woman to come. She hated being pushed around. It wasn't fair.

Lena came and sat in the car. "So... What's your name?" She asked.

"Swan. Emma Swan." She said quietly. She looked out the window. She knew better than let anyone in. She wasn't going to do it now and she wasn't going to do it ever.

They drove home in silence. Once in a while, Emma would glance at Lena. She sighed and got out of the car. She brought her stuff inside, only to see a kitchen filled with people. Callie, Jude, Mariana, Jesus and Brandon.

"Wow. Okay." She mumbled and walked out to the backyard.

Stef got home and saw the young blonde in the back. She turned to Lena. "Who's that?" She questioned.

Lena sighed. "Her name is Emma. She's just staying with us a few weeks. It will be fine, my love."

Stef nodded.

Emma was crying slightly in the back. She knew she would have to go soon. She didn't really want too. She just wanted a forever home right now.

She got up and walked back in. Only to see a familiar face. She bit her lip and ran up to Stef, hugging her.

Stef arched a brow. "What's wrong?" She bit her lip.

"You don't remember me do you?" Emma asked.

Stef looked at the young blonde and smiled. She nodded. "I do remember you. I saved your life."

The lonely girl nodded. "Yeah. I never got to thank you so thank you." She smiled, a real smile for once.

Years ago, when Emma was seven there was a huge fight at one of her foster homes. Her one foster father had a gun pointed at Emma's head. The blonde of course was scared out of her mind and would have been killed if one of the neighbors didn't call the cops. Stef arrived and saved the little girl but never really took her in because she didn't know if Lena wanted more kids.

Emma looked at Lena and Stef. "Are you guys married?" She asked.

They both nodded.

"Awesome." She smiled. She looked at Lena. "She's the best. You hold on tight to her."

Lena chuckled. "Don't worry, little one. I will." She smiled and looked at Stef with love in her eyes.

Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad.
