There's another dinner tonight for some of mom's closest friends and to celebrate her success in the last issued magazine. Mom has managed to build up a name for her in the fashion industry as an editor and is close friends with some of the well-known personalities in Hollywood. Since the wedding is only 3 more weeks to go, she decided to invite her close friends for a get together before she retires from her line of work after the wedding. I don't really want to attend the dinner but she insisted that I must, probably planning to make connections for me in the fashion world. So here I am, picking out clothes to wear for this dinner. There's a knock on my door and mom enters after a few seconds with a smile.

"Having a hard time choosing what to wear?" She asks walking to my closet.

"Yeah. Since most of your guests are models and fashion editors, I don't wanna stand out by having no fashion sense." I tell her honestly rummaging through my closet. "I was planning on wearing this one." I hold up the lavender colored backless dress. "Or is it too much?"

"Nothing is ever too much." She tells me. I smile at her and lay the dress on my bed. "Oh I want you to meet someone, Ella's daughter is coming tonight and I think you two will get along." She informs me and I strip off my clothes and put on the dress. "I'll see you downstairs." Mom leaves just as I start putting some light make-up and fixing my hair.

I get down in time to see some of the guests arriving and seeing them go to the backyard, I walk to the kitchen to get a bottle of water. When I reach the kitchen I see this auburn-haired girl in a light blue dress talking to the staff.

"You're here for a bottle of water miss Destiny?" One of the staff says to me making the girl turn around to me.

"Please drop the miss and just call me Destiny." I tell the staff who nods before getting the bottled water for me. My eyes train on the girl with striking bluish-gray eyes before I give my thanks to the staff.

"So you're Destiny. My mom told me about you when you did that photo shoot with her." She saunters up to me with an easy smile. Up close I could see that she's about 4 inches taller than I am. "You're even more beautiful in person. I hope I'll be seeing you around Destiny." She winks before walking out to the backyard leaving me stunned in the kitchen. She was definitely flirting, I thought to myself as I make my way to the backyard. As I reach the porch, there she is smiling at me. "If I didn't know any better, I would think you're following me." She says and the twinkle in her eyes tells me she's teasing me. Well two can play that game, I thought to myself as I walk up to her.

"And if I didn't know any better, I'd say you've been waiting for me." I touch her arm to get a reaction and smirk at her when I felt her shudder lightly. "You know it's rude to know someone's name without giving them theirs."

"I was hoping you'd be content with 'mysterious beauty'." She answers back. "Maybe that way you'll want to find me to get my name." Once again she walks away from me to join the rest of the guests in the backyard. I shake my head to get out of the confused state that girl put me in before walking to where my mom is. Once she sees me, she gestures for me to come closer to her.

"Destiny you remember Ella right?" Mom says and I nod as I smile at Ella.

"It's so nice to see you again Destiny. Have you considered my offer?" She asks.

"I'm still thinking about it Ms Ella. As much as I like modeling, it's just a hobby for me." I tell her gently and she nods in understanding.

"Well if you ever want to model again just call me." She smiles then looks around the place. "My daughter is here and I want her to meet you. She helped me edit the pictures." Ella signals someone from behind us to come over and it was the girl from before. "Samantha this is Destiny Fukui, Clarice's daughter. I told you about her before." She introduces us and Samantha's eyes sparkles. "This is my daughter Samantha Baltimore. She was supposed to be the model that day but she forgot." Ella says playfully.

"Samantha. I finally got to know your name. I guess I won't be calling you 'mysterious beauty' anymore." I say to her as I outstretch my hand which she shakes. She holds my hand longer than necessary before she lets go.

"You know each other?" Ella asks.

"Yes mom. I met Destiny in the kitchen although I was hoping she won't find out about my name so she'll come looking for me." As she says this she keeps her eyes on me. "I do hope you'd still come looking for me despite knowing my name. I'd like to get to know you." She adds and I swear this girl is throwing me off my game.
