Prologue:

It was the 16 of October 2012, my friend Anne's 16th birth Anniversary.

I was sitting next to her in English, while Mr. Johnson was reading out Shakespeare's work, Macbeth.

Both of us, okay well everyone in the class, didn't seem to notice Mr Johnson's presence and did whatever we wanted to.

Anne and I were talking to each other, when she cracked a joke to which I couldn't help but laugh.

It was a loud laugh.

Everyone, including Mr Johnson, stopped what they were doing.

I became the centre of attraction.

Mr Johnson called out to me "Mr Agarwal " , with his Irish accent, unable to pronounce my name for the millionth time.

Okay, not millionth, but I lost count after 853 times. He continued "What part of Macbeth do you find amusing Mr Agarwal?"

Million and oneth time.

"The fact that there are 3 witches trying to do something... " I replied

"Mr. Dhruv Agarwal, let me tell you that even though your parents are the top scientists in the country, you can not ignore the English language. It runs the World" he said.

He had to mention my parents. I don't need Macbeth to learn the language. All I need is an English teacher, who doesn't hate science.

Yes, my parents are world renowned scientists, famous for their inventions and discoveries. Their company had offered us to shift to America so that they have better materials and equipment.

So they, along with my sister and I, shifted to Portland, Oregon last year, from Bangalore, India.

I joined The LakeView High School for the last three years of my schooling as soon as I arrived and I seem to quite like it.

After English, Anne and I split up.

I had Math. Ugh.

Almost half-way during math, I saw a large flash of light, and a mushroom cloud of smoke.

After almost 12 seconds, I heard the explosion.

The speed of sound in air is about 334m/s.

So 334m/s multiplied by 12s is 4008m , which is about 4 kilometres.

It was almost exactly the same distance of home in the same direction.

I hope my parents are safe.

I had overheard my parents before leaving for school today.

My mom was saying "No we can't do that now. The experiment is very dangerous....". Then I had to leave with my sister for school.
