After 600 years High Summoner Gandof obtains the Final Aeon from Lady Yunalesca and he goes to an uninhabited land where no one else will be harmed. During his fight Sin tore the land in two creating a huge canyon.
Gandof defeated Sin, becoming the very first High Summoner in history. The calm starts again and all doubt about the Yevon temple subside. Sin reappears once more and the land where Gandof had fought was later named the "Calm Lands". A place where all summoners can face Sin.
