10. Your Eyes

As the cruel talons of cold predatory intent,

pushed past your peaceful layers making irrevocable rents...

Enduring the pain, you looked at me,fought, screamed and pushed at me,

I took you in my arms, having faith in tinctures, texts, threads, the hippocratic plea...

As the moments precious went, thy force within got spent,

Love drunk with tender care I thought,

how valiantly my little 'Budgie' fought...

As the sparkles of those black pools flickered and went out,

shattered my soul , at the floodgates shout...

How naive a fool I was,

too busy, wasting precious time without pause or relevant cause,

Realising the brevity of life only after a terrible loss...

You shall live on my friend, until this vain heart ceases and the tick-tocking pulses end...

Sending you on your great adventure my dear, the kinship that developed as I held you near...

Years of friendship can't match that kinship my dear, for these worldly connections can't match those which are ethereal...

Your empty, expectant yet gleeful eyes, shall haunt me till my demise...

Oh those eyes, your eyes

your silent cries, your eyes

How I wish all these were lies,

But for those eyes, your eyes...
