Scarlette crouches down in the darkest corner of the walk-in closet; her eyes have already understood her fate as salty droplets of water soak the coat shielding her body. Her heart however, refuses to give up as it continues its constant and persistent beat. Breathe. The man gives a disappointed grunt and for a moment Scarlette feels the tiny goosebumps of hope on her skin. It all fades away when the warm barrel of a gun burns her creased forehead.
