Number Fourteen

--

The world is not kind

To those who are weak

To those who are ugly

To those who are meek

The world is not welcoming

To those who are different

To those who are special

To those that don't blend in

The world is not pleasant

To those who are sick

To those who are dying

To those that don't live

The world does not smile upon

Those who don't conform

Those who don't act right

Those who don't belong

But we can

Our smiles will make a difference

Our acceptance will make them strong

Our love shall be a beacon

That helps them along

Our words will be their comfort

Our presence shall be their strength

Our touch shall constantly remind them

That not all is unkind

We can be great

By the little things that we do

For they make the greatest difference

To both me and you

So smile at a stranger

Hug a friend

Tell a lover you love them

Make the world shine again

Because we can
