Chapter Five

The final Peirod of the day came, and Melinda was completely down. Jim noticed and asked what was up. Melinda told him that her english teacher had just assigned a writing assignment, and her laptop broke just a few days ago. She hasn't been able to get another one. Jim told her I had a spare one. You're welcome to use it anytime. Melinda thanked him. He told her she was welcome. Melinda had sat in her seat and waited for her friends. Mr. Clancy told the class to go ahead and use the period as a free period. They all finished homework from other classes. Played some games until the bell. Melinda took her time to pack up. Ask Mr. Clancy if she could use his laptop. He told her of course. He handed her his laptop and let her start her paper. While he was correcting papers she was working on, her english assignment. When Jim told he was heading home. Melinda had saved her work and went home herself. He worked on some extra credit work and then went bed. She couldn't stop thinking how nice it was of Mr. Clancy to let her use his laptop. Jim went home thinking how sweet Melinda was and how polite she was. They had once again fallen asleep dreaming about the other. Not knowing they had been dreaming about the other. The one thing that neither of them can figure out why. They were crushing on each other the way they were. Melinda went in the school and asked Mr. Clancy if she can use his laptop. He told her that she sure can. Jim handed her his laptop and finished correcting papers while she, did her work. He smiled at her and felt it and looked up and Smiled back him. Told him that she appreciates that he is letting her use his laptop for her assignment. Jim told her that she is welcome anytime. She smiles and gets back to work on her writing assignment. Melinda had saved it and had said that she is gonna let, her friends know that she will be in here doing her assignment in here, so they don't worry. Jim tells her it is okay and that she can come back and use it anytime that she wants to. Melinda went to go and see her friends. Charlie asked where was she. Melinda told him that she was in Mr. Clancy class doing her assignment because her laptop broke. Andrea told her that is sweet of him to let you use it. Melinda tells them her yeah it is. Melinda tells them no that she doesn't have a crush on him so don't even suggest it. Charlie held his hands up in defense while, Delia and Andrea had on suspicion looks on their faces. They knew different that she did, the way she was in there so much now, always smiled afterward and, they noticed the small smiles that they gave each other. They knew better than anyone that she did like him like that. But Melinda was not acting it because of the fact that he was their teacher. When the bell rang they went to class and Melinda stopped into Mr. Clancy class and asked him if he would, give her a pass to come in during lunch to do more of her assignment. Jim wrote her the pass that she needed for lunch and smiled at her. Melinda had smiled back at him and went to her class. When the time she ate a small lunch because she wasn't that hungry. Melinda had given the pass to the lunch room supervisor and they approved it. Melinda went to see Mr. Clancy and moment she got in their he was eating his lunch a taco salad. Melinda had started to work on her assignment some more, when a small tear had came down her cheek. Jim notice and asked if she was okay. Melinda saved her work and told him yes and no. She is doing a paper about her grandmother because, the subject is who inspires us most and my grandmother did. But of the fact that she is gone now it just hurts you know. Jim told her he knows that it does, but it does get easier with time. The pain don't completely go away but it does get easier. Melinda smiles and tells him thank you for that. Jim tells her well I did lose my dad and brother so I know how it feels. They talk about the death of each of them and comfort one another when they other cried. Agreed that when they talk like this they would use each other first names. Jim and Melinda unless she had a nickname at all. Melinda told him yeah I do and we can use it when we talk like this, It is Mel. We will keep the Mr. Clancy and Melinda for class. Jim agreed on that and told her that she better get ready to go to her next class. Melinda told him yeah I better. Melinda left his class just the bell rang for her next class, She changed her books quickly and went to her writing class. The teacher asked everyone how the assignment is coming along. Everyone says that it is coming along good. Melinda couldn't help but think about how she was getting, help from one of the teachers while others was working on it at home. That was the one thing that Melinda didn't have the computer to do anymore. When it came to study hall she asked to go to the library. Melinda did her paper in there and couldn't stop thinking about her grandmother, words that she had said once before and the way that Jim seemed to be. But Melinda was not going to jump the gun on anything and think like that. Melinda had saved her work and headed back to her study hall. Melinda had went on with her day. When she got to Mr. Clancy class he handed out a pockets, I want you all to do the first three pages now, and the next three for homework. They class whined about it. Jim told them hey now I can make it the rest of the pocket if you want me too. They told him no, they don't. They all did as told and then hanged in their work. Just the bell rang to leave for them to go home. The whole class had finished before then so they only had three pages for homework. Melinda asked for his laptop. He told her yes and hanged her it while he was, correcting papers. When it came to the time he had to go. He told Melinda it is the time we both have to pack up. If you would like to come over to my place to finish up, and use the laptop you can I don't mind at all. Melinda told him thank you that she really appreciates that. Jim gave her his address. Melinda left and went to his place, and wait for him to get there, she started her other homework while she was waiting. Jim pulled in and told her that he is, glad that she had found the place okay, Melinda smiled and told him, that she hopes that no one gets the wrong idea. Jim told her Mel don't worry about it at all, nothing is going on just a teacher helping a student that is all. He unlocked the door for them. Jim told her that ladies first. Melinda went in and was surprised about how clean he was. Most guys that she knew was so messy and yet here, was a guy that was clean as clean can be. Jim gave her his laptop to do to her work. She sat the table that was in his dinning room/ living room. Jim did he bills for month and smiled at her. Asked if she needed help on anything. Melinda told him yeah on her science homework. Jim told her put her english paper away and get out her science. Melinda did as she was told to do, Jim helped her with her science and her social studies. When she was done, Melinda thanked him for helping her. Melinda decided to do her other homework. Jim had asked if she was hungry at all so that he could make them something eat. Melinda told him yeah that she was hungry." While Jim was cooking the food, Melinda worked on her english assignment. When the food was done. She saved her work and ate her supper. Jim had given her a can of soda to wash it down with. Melinda had done more of her paper when she was done. She noticed it was getting late and went to save her work. But she couldn't her usb drive was full. She went to look in her backpack, only to see there was no more in there. She said shoot. Jim asked her what's up Mel. She told him I have no USB drive to save my work. Jim told her to hold on that he might have some. He went to his spare room where he had a desk and a computer and printer. Jim got her one from the drawer. He had gotten his shirt stuck some how. He swears about it, that Melinda went to see if everything was okay, she seen Jim take off his shirt, Melinda stared for a moment. Melinda then went back to the table, Jim went to get on a t-shirt, came out and hanged Melinda her USB. Melinda hurried up and, got her stuff together, and saved her work. She told Jim that she had to go. Jim asked if she was okay. Melinda lied and said Yeah she is okay. Jim told her okay and let her go but he was really worried that something happened, that had Melinda leaving so early. Melinda was thinking about what she saw. She couldn't get Jim being shirtless out of her head at all. While Jim was worried that he said or did something wrong to her. He couldn't stop  thinking about that. Next day at school Melinda didn't get there so early. When she got there others were too. Melinda was at her locker when Jim called her, in the classroom and she goes in. Jim asks her what happened last night, why she was in such a hurry to leave, did he do or say something that offended her at all. Melinda told him no that it is nothing like that. Jim said," then what Mel tell me please, because i am worried that i said or did something wrong." Melinda said," okay Jim, I heard you swear, I thought something wrong so I went to go check on you, I seen you shirtless." Jim looked embarrassed about what she had just said to him. Told her that it was a mistake he didn't mean to take shirt off. Melinda told him that forgives him that it was a mistake she gets it. Jim told her yeah it was. Melinda told him that she will finish her paper later. Jim tells her okay and lets her go see her friends. Melinda never told them about the fact that she, went to Mr. Clancy house or that she seen him shirtless, she kept that to herself. As the day went on Melinda couldn't stop thinking about Jim being shirtless. It was all that she can think about. But Melinda didn't let that distract her from her work. When the time comes to going to Mr. Clancy class, all of a sudden Melinda felt nervous she didn't get on why. Maybe it was because of what happened. She just didn't know why at all. She went and hanged in her homework with everyone else. Melinda and Jim went on with the class like nothing had happened the night before at all. When the class was over Melinda told, her friends she was going to be staying there. Go to the library to finish her paper. They told her okay that they will talk to her later. When they had left the school she went inside of Mr. Clancy class, asked if she could use his laptop again. He told her yeah of course you she could. While she was working on it. Jim asked her paper, Jim asked if they could talk about something. Melinda told him that they could. Jim asked her if what happened had changed anything for them. Melinda told him no that it is still the same thing teacher and student relationship. Melinda said that she would still use his laptop anytime that she needed too. Jim told her that she could anytime. She saved her work and asked about going back to his house to work more on her paper. Jim told her that she could. When they were at his house together, Melinda was doing her work. When Jim was cooking supper. Melinda had finished her work for the night, and told Jim that she had better go home for the night. Jim told her that she didn't have to at all. That if she wants to she can help him cook supper. Melinda had said sure that would love to. They cooked supper together and had fun. They ate what they cooked and it was good. Melinda had told Jim thank you for letting her help. Jim told her that she is more than welcome. hey did the dishes together and splashed each other. Jim was laughing so s was Melinda. Melinda leaves to  go home and to bed. That night she couldn't help but dream about Jim. He couldn't help but dream about her. Both of them dreaming of the other.
