I slumped on my couch, staring blankly at the wall as tears streamed down my face. It had been 3 months since I lost my job, and  since Jason broke my heart. I had exhausted my savings, paying fares to countless interviews that led nowhere. If not for Lilly's help, ill'd be homeless by now.

As I sat there, feeling hopeless, my phone buzzed. I hesitated before picking it up, knowing I couldn't afford to ignore any potential job opportunity. But my heart sank when I saw the message was from my sister, Sonia.

Sonia, the same sister who had always taken pleasure in hurting me. The same sister who was now marrying the man who had broken my heart.

The message was brief and cruel: "Hey Sarah, just wanted to invite you to my wedding. Can't wait to see you there! - Sonia"

I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I couldn't believe Sonia would rub this in my face. The wedding was just another reminder of Jason's betrayal and my own failure.

With shaking hands, I typed out a response, trying to keep my emotions in check: "Congratulations, Sonia. I'm happy for you both. But I won't be attending. Wishing you all the best."

As I hit send, I felt a wave of sadness wash over me. I knew I needed to get my life back on track, but it seemed like the universe was conspiring against me.

Lilly walked in smiling but then her expression turned to one of concern as she got sight of my tear stained face. "Hey, girl, what's wrong?"

I sniffled, trying to compose myself. "Just Sonia, being her usual lovely self."

Lilly's expression turned fierce. "That bitch. Don't even get me started. You're better off without her and Jason in your life."

I nodded, knowing Lilly was right. But it was hard to see that right now, when everything felt like it was falling apart.

Lilly sat beside me, wrapping a comforting arm around my shoulders. "We'll get through this, Sarah. Together. You'll find a new job, and a new man who'll treat you right. And as for Sonia... well, she's just a reminder that you're better off without toxic people in your life."

I sighed, feeling a sense of resignation wash over me. "I know. But it's hard to see that right now."

Lilly's grip on my shoulders tightened. "Listen, Sarah. You can't let Sonia win. If you don't go to that wedding, everyone will think you're the bitter ex, and Sonia will use that against you. She'll spin the story to make herself look like the victim, and you'll be the villain."

My eyes widened as I realized Lilly was right. I could not let Sonia control the narrative.

Lilly continued, "You need to show up, hold your head high, and show them all that you're not bothered. That you're moving on with your life."

I took a deep breath, determination rising within me. "You're right, Lilly. I'll go to that wedding, and I'll show them all that I'm not to be underestimated."

Lilly grinned, a mischievous glint in her eye. "That's the spirit, girl! Now, let's get ready to crash that wedding and show Sonia who's boss!"

It had been a week since I got Sonia's cruel invite and well The day was finally here. I stood in front of my mirror, smoothing out my red gown for what felt like the hundredth time. The dress was a stunning, floor-length masterpiece that hugged my curves in all the right places. It was a deep, rich red that seemed to glow in the light, and it perfectly complemented my dark skin and raven hair.

The dress had a sweetheart neckline, and the sleeves were long and flowing, with a slight bell shape at the wrist. The bodice was fitted, showcasing my tiny waist, and the skirt fell in soft, flowing folds to the floor. Around my neck, I wore a delicate silver chain with a small, sparkling diamond pendant.

Lilly walked into the room, a glass of champagne in hand. "Hey, girl! You look absolutely stunning! Sonia's going to be green with envy when she sees you."

I smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude towards my friend. "Thanks, Lilly. I couldn't have done this without you."

Lilly herself looked radiant in a sleek, black jumpsuit with a plunging neckline and high heels. Her hair was styled in loose, effortless waves, and her makeup was flawless. She handed me the glass of champagne. "Drink up, buttercup! You're going to need some liquid courage for this."

I took a sip, feeling the bubbles dance on my tongue. I had to admit, I was nervous. Seeing Jason and Sonia together, exchanging vows and promising to love each other till death do them part... it was going to be a tough pill to swallow.

But i was determined to show them that I was over it. That I had moved on with my life, and was better off without them.

As we drove to the wedding venue, I  felt a sense of calm wash over me. I was ready for this.

When we arrived, I was taken aback by the grandeur of the venue. It was a beautiful garden, with flowers and greenery everywhere. A string quartet played softly in the background, adding to the romantic ambiance.

I took a deep breath, and stepped out of the car. I was here to show them that I was a force to be reckoned with. And she I going to do just that.

As I walked towards the ceremony, I saw Jason and Sonia standing at the altar, holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes. I felt a pang in my heart, but I pushed it aside. I was here to prove a point, and I wasn't going to let my emotions get the better of me.

I took my seat in the back, trying to blend in with the other guests. But as the ceremony began, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and empowerment. I was here, and I was not going to let anyone bring me down.

As the minister asked if anyone had any objections to the union, I felt a sudden urge to stand up and shout "I do!" But i resisted the temptation, and instead, smiled sweetly as Jason and Sonia exchanged their vows.

As the reception began, I and Lilly made our way to the bar, where we ordered a round of drinks. I sipped my champagne, feeling a sense of confidence wash over me. I was determined to enjoy myself, no matter what.

As we mingled with the other guests, I couldn't help but notice the way Jason and Sonia were gazing into each other's eyes. It was like they were the only two people in the world. I felt a pang of jealousy, but I pushed it aside. I was here to move on, not to dwell on the past.

Lilly, sensing my unease, took her arm and led me onto the dance floor. "Come on, girl! Let's show them how it's done!"

I laughed, feeling a sense of freedom wash over me. I let loose, dancing and spinning to the music, my red gown shimmering in the light. I was having the time of her life, and I knew that Jason and Sonia were taking notice.

Lilly and I continued to dance and laugh, drawing attention from the other guests. I was determined to show them that I was over Jason, and that I was moving on with my life.

But a while later, I began to feel a sense of unease. I started to feel very nauseous and dizzy. I tried to push the feeling aside, but it only seemed to grow stronger.

Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I excused myself from Lilly and made my way to the bathroom, needing a moment to collect myself.

As I stood in front of the mirror, I took slow deep breaths to calm myself but it wasn't working as the next minute I was bent over the toilet wretching. Everything I had taken into my system that day went down the toilet.

Why was I suddenly throwing up, I hadn't felt sick earlier. Although I had been feeling weaker than normal for a while now but I thought it was just stress from overthinking.
