One Fateful Day

It had been one fateful day
When he met Mr and Mrs. Ray
Aster heard a lovely lady say
She said: “What else can you play?”

He strum a chord of his violin
With the use of his bowstring
It took Mr. Ray to stroke his chin
When he heard his wife sing

Aster leaned on the chinrest
While he caught Daisy's interest
Blaise wasn't much of a talker
Though he came with an offer

Blaise Ray was an entrepeneur
Aster Rhodes was just a fiddler
Daisy Ray was a beautiful singer
It couldn't get any better

Blaise made a quick questionnaire
The method was quite laissez faire
Daisy then regained her muse
A chance Aster couldn't refuse

He could perform in a band
And Aster shook his hand
So he carried the violin case
It was thanks to Mr. Blaise

Aster was surprised to see
That he would eat for free
Even if it's just for a day
He would join the fray

Aster arrived to the Dandy cafe
He enjoyed a decent meal
It was a sweet, so surreal
So what if it was a cliche

He had a chance to audition
Though it came with a condition
The audition was a test
So he would do his best

The band came to get brunch
Though the frontman had a hunch
Something was quite suspicious
The musicians were curious

Meet Morgan, J.J., Ben and Sy
Don't forget to watch out for Darrell
When Aster went to say hi
The Dandy Lion wanted to quarrel

“Daisy, what were you thinking?”
Darrell asked her earnestly
“It wasn't my idea, darling.”
She admitted wholeheartedly

“Of course it was Blaise's doing.”
Darrell sneered while sat
“You should hear Aster playing.”
Daisy suggested like a sly cat

It was time to put the fiddler to the test
To see if he was better than the rest
The audition would start by tomorrow
Aster only needed a nice suit to borrow

He hoped that his aunt would be so kind
To allow him to borrow a suit for a day
Perhaps dear old aunt Gina wouldn't mind
Bad news for Aster, she said: “No way!”

“Please aunt Gina, it's just for a day.”
She crossed her arms and said: “Go away!”
Aster's aunt was a difficult woman to persuade
So he needed a tool to use for the trade

Guess what did Aster find?
It was his late uncle's suit
“Well, I hope she won't mind.”
Aunt Gina gave him the boot.

He got properly dressed for the occasion
With a fiddle in hand he went to audition
Aster played a song for the band to hear
It was a short melody, the coast was clear

After the fiddler played the instrumental
The frontman was quite temperamental
It was time to put the fiddler to the test
To see if he was better than the rest

He requested Aster to play another song
That miserable fiddler won't last long
When it came to playing a medley
The Dandy Lion was a worthy adversary

Despite that the Dandy Lion was immune
Aster went along and played his tune
The violinist knew something was wrong
Darrell requested Aster to play another song

In order for Aster to be part of the Daisy Dukes
The Dandy Lion put Aster Rhodes to the test
To ensure that his performance wasn't a fluke
He allowed the fiddle to perform the rest

Aster played the chords with the bowstring
The band paid attention to the rhythm
After the violinist finished performing
The frontman noticed the problem

“Stop pantomiming, it's annoying.”
Darrell stated after observing the lad
“Sorry, I was just improvising.”
Aster got off the stage, feeling sad

Everyone knew that Darrell wasn't exactly nice
However, he did give Aster a word of advice
“Don't.” Darrell stated as he lit up a cigar
Aster watched the frontman leave the bar

It had been one fateful evening
When Aster began performing
He enjoyed hearing Mrs. Ray sing
And he wouldn't change a thing
