A Bittersweet Acceptance

Even though my heart aches with this realization,
That the love I hold for you, may not be your destination.
I've come to accept that your heart may belong to another,
A truth I must face, though it pains me like no other.

I've seen the way you look at them, the way your eyes shine,
A connection so profound, a love so divine.
And though it breaks my heart to know you're not mine,
I will not stand in the way of your happiness, so sublime.

So I'll pray to the heavens, to the stars up above,
That they may guide you and your beloved, in a love so pure and true.
That your hearts may forever be intertwined,
And the love you share, may it forever be defined.

Though my own heart may ache and long for your embrace,
I'll find solace in the knowledge that you've found your rightful place.
For your happiness, is all that I desire,
Even if it means my own love must quietly retire.

So I'll cherish the moments we've shared, the memories so dear,
And I'll hold you in my heart, without a single tear.
For your love, though not mine, will forever be a part of me,
And I'll pray for your joy, for eternity.
