FOLLOWING A HECTIC DAY, Y/N
took a seat at a nearby cafe to grab some caffeine, ensuring she wouldn't doze off the moment she got back home.

even if that was her desire, she couldn't indulge it, as she already anticipated her parents bombarding her with questions about her day.

it wasn't because they genuinely cared about her actions, but because they were the most toxic and unpleasant individuals Y/N had ever encountered. they were fixated on controlling her every move, leaving almost sixteen years of her life dictated by their demands. she found herself constantly sacrificing her own desires just to appease them.

a year ago, she came to the realization that the path her parents had set for her wasn't aligned with her true desires for her future. determined to pursue her passion, something she could envision herself thriving in and building a successful career from, she made the bold decision to quit and embark on that journey.

"Here you go miss. May I get you anything else?",the waiter set down a steaming latte macchiato, delicately positioning it in front of her alongside a freshly baked croissant and a napkin. as he glanced at her face, his eyes widened with recognition.

"Wait! You're L/N Y/N from that soccer game, aren't you?", his voice carried a mix of surprise and excitement as he realized he was serving someone he recognized from a memorable event.

Y/N's spirits lifted at the sight of the waiter's excitement upon recognizing her. she couldn't help but smile in response,"that's me, yeah,"
she confirmed, enjoying the unexpected moment of recognition and connection in the midst of her day.

he gracefully pulled out the chair from the opposite side of the table, signaling his intention to sit down across from her. Y/N's brows furrowed slightly in confusion. Wasn't he supposed to be serving other customers rather than engaging in conversation with one? She couldn't help but wonder about the sudden departure from typical restaurant protocol.

"Wow, you're even more stunning in person! And besides that, you were absolutely phenomenal in the match!"

Y/N wasn't particularly inclined to engage in conversation, especially with a stranger. however, his presence did manage to brighten her mood somewhat, and she wasn't one to dismiss someone abruptly, especially when they were being this sweet, "Thank you,"she nodded graciously, "but honestly, my teammates were the true phenomenal ones."

"Yeah, Isagi Yoichi," he exclaimed eagerly, "he was amazing! and his interview afterward... he's just so cool!"

Y/N couldn't help but giggle at the waiter's enthusiasm, making a mental note to relay his words to Isagi later. She knew it would serve as an extra boost of motivation for him to pursue his soccer career with even greater determination.

The waiter's demeanor shifted to a more neutral expression, his gaze fixed on Y/N with a small smile playing on his lips. He leaned forward, resting his hands gently on the table before addressing her.

"Oh, L/N-san,"he began, his tone curious yet respectful, "you used to be an idol in Korea right?"

There it was, the dreaded question that never failed to weigh heavy on her heart. Y/N felt a pang of sadness at the mention of her past, a topic that seemed to inevitably surface once people got to know her a bit better. It was a familiar scenario, reminiscent of her time at Blue Lock, where although not everyone recognized her, many were aware of her previous identity. Beyond the initial recognition, the inevitable follow-up question was always the same: why did she choose to walk away from it all so suddenly?

"Tanaka-kun!", a man exclaimed, approaching their table. The waiter's reaction was swift and filled with apprehension as he shot up from his seat, bowing down as quickly as he could in deference to the newcomer.

well, now he is in trouble...

"Why are you sitting around? Aren't you supposed to be working?", the man's voice carried an edge of irritation as he directed his question at the waiter. With a quick nod, the waiter hastily returned to attending to his duties, prompting a deep sigh from the man as he observed the situation unfold.

He turned to Y/N with a respectful bow, "My sincerest apologies, ma'am. I hope his behavior didn't inconvenience you in any way," he said, his tone tinged with regret.

Y/N chuckled and waved her hands reassuringly. She didn't want him to get into any trouble; after all, he was just a young teenager, likely overly excited and curious upon meeting someone somewhat well-known.

"Quite the opposite, sir," Y/N smiled warmly, reaching for her wallet. She retrieved 10,000 yen and handed it to the older man, "He actually brightened my day, so I'd like to return the favor and make his day better too. Could you please call him back here?"

"Tanaka-kun," the man called out, and the boy hurried over to them, visibly nervous in the presence of his boss.

"Y-yes?", Tanaka responded tentatively, his fear evident but somewhat alleviated by Y/N's kind gesture, which was accompanied by her signature smile.

Tanaka glanced around, half-expecting it to be some sort of prank. However, as he didn't spot any cameras, he turned his attention back to Y/N, confusion evident in his expression, "W-what? Why—"

"please just take it,"Y/N interjected, touched by his adorable reaction, "you made my day, so I want to make yours."

Her sincerity shone through in her words and warm smile, "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

Tanaka exclaimed with gratitude, bowing repeatedly before hurrying back to work, still wary of his boss's potential reprimand. His boss smiled warmly at Y/N, "Thank you, ma'am. Oh, and everything you have on your table is on the house," he added, expressing his appreciation with a generous gesture.

Before Y/N could even insist on paying, the man walked away. A contented smile spread across her face as she basked in the warmth of her own satisfaction, quietly reveling in the joy of her small act of kindness.

Just as she was about to take a sip from her now-cooled latte macchiato, her phone buzzed with a message. Y/N quickly grabbed her phone and read the message sent by Teieri Anri.It simply stated that Blue Lock would soon gather again, with certain details being kept secret for now.

Taking a sip, she hummed with excitement, already thrilled about the continuation of Blue Lock. It meant she could pursue her passion without the constraints imposed by her parents or anyone else who opposed her chosen path.

and once again, the moment had arrived for her to escape. it wasn't just about leaving behind her toxic family and friends; it was about shedding the skin of her old, toxic life and the persona she had once embodied. this time, she wasn't merely escaping physical surroundings; she was breaking free from the suffocating grip of her own fears.

among them, the most daunting was the fear of failure, of not achieving her dreams simply because she dared to pursue soccer in a realm dominated by boys. she stoop on the precipice of liberation, ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
